As a result of legislative actions and an updated economic forecast, the Comptroller's office now expects revenue available for general spending in 2022-23 to total about $135.32 billion, up 15.1 percent from the 2020-21 biennium.

Texas is blessed with our ports. "Hidalgo County ports of entry account for $33 billion in international trade, driven by just a handful of commodities like fresh produce. Texas A&M University’s Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Economics estimates fresh produce imports from Mexico will create $1.22 billion in economic activity and 11,200+ jobs in the state by 2025."

Texas retains more of its residents than any other state because workers feel they have more opportunities here than anywhere else.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announces the creation of the Broadband Development Office to offer incentives to internet service providers for expanding in underserved areas of the state.

"Easy, secure internet access is increasingly important in our society, and it was essential during the pandemic. So, I am grateful that lawmakers made the expansion of broadband access across Texas a priority through the creation of the Broadband Development Office at my agency," said Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar.

Texas music venues are in need of assistance and the SBAs Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program may be a guide on how the state should roll out its own Texas Music Incubator Rebate Program scheduled for 2022.

A report released on June 28 by the Small Business Administration shows that out of all the businesses that have applied, 16% have been awarded grants. The SBA has only given out less than 5% of the $16 billion allocated to the fund. $91 million has been awarded to 102 Texas venues thus far.

Competitive states like North Carolina are eager to see Texas lose one of it's biggest incentive programs and they are poised to improve NC business because of it. Texans for Economic Development is working to ensure that never happens.

A big tax abatement program to incentivize companies to expand or move to Texas is on its way out. And that's good news for North Carolina.
