The 7th and 8th grade Orchestra has been learning about an opera! When Mrs. Roberts first introduced the topic, she asked them what an opera was and they said “something that old people watch”. Students lead a reading from a musical exploration podcast about the opera and learned that there is more that they can connect with there than they thought! Do you ever have trouble with relationships? Have you ever tried to impress someone and it didn’t work? Has someone ever told you not to do something and you did it anyways? Well, this opera has all of that and more and the students had a great time learning about it and then digging into their music with a little more understanding and appreciation!

What an incredible day for GNMS Athletics!

This August, 190 students received FREE sports physicals right here at Gardner Newman Middle School! We are beyond thankful for Emory at LaGrange and their amazing staff who volunteered their time to help make this event possible.

Their support helped remove one more step—and one more expense—for our families as students prepare to become GNMS student-athletes. 🏃🏽‍♀️🏈🏀⚽🏐🥎🏌🏽‍♂️

And this year was a BIG one! 🎉 This was the largest and highest participation we’ve had since we began offering this service to our students!

Seeing 190 students take advantage of this opportunity is a WIN all by itself.

💙 Sometimes the best part of the day is simply taking a moment to connect.

Ms. Hippolyte got to spend a little time with one of our sweet 6th grade Mustangs, Malayzah, and that smile says it all! 🥰

Middle school is about so much more than academics. It’s about making sure our students feel seen, known, valued, and loved while they learn and grow.

Malayzah, keep sharing that beautiful smile and bright spirit with us! We are so glad you’re a Mustang! 💙🤍🐎

Sometimes a picture captures exactly what middle school is all about. 💙🐎

Joy. Friendship. Energy. And just a little bit of middle school silliness! 😂

Our Mustangs are learning how to navigate new classes, new expectations, new friendships, and a whole lot more independence but we also want them to enjoy the journey.

There is something special about seeing our students walking into Gardner Newman, backpacks on, friends beside them, and ready for another day.

Middle school is a BIG transition, but our Mustangs are finding their stride! 💙🤍
