Four Troup County School Students were awarded the Willie T. Edmondson Memorial Scholarship on Tuesday (6/9) evening at the LaGrange City Council meeting. Mrs. Faye Edmondson was in attendance to award the students the honor.

The late Willie T. Edmondson, former Mayor of LaGrange, wanted to provide a scholarship for young leaders in our community. These four students will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Students from Troup High School, LaGrange High School, and Callaway High School were chosen by their schools, and one student from the LaGrange Youth Council was chosen by a panel of city representatives.

The following students were awarded the 2026 Willie T. Edmondson Memorial Scholarship:

Troup County High School Student Clinton Hunter. He will be attending the Georgia Tech.

LaGrange High School Student Hayden Emerson. She will be attending the University of Georgia.

Callaway High School Student Jaylen Williams. He will be attending the University of West Georgia.

LaGrange Youth Council Member Skylar Kang. She will be attending the Georgia Tech.

“I’m incredibly proud of these four young leaders and all they have accomplished,” said Mayor Jim Arrington. “We’re excited to support them as they take the next step toward their college education. It was also special to have Mrs. Faye Edmondson join us at the City Council meeting and take a photo with the students as we celebrated this year’s scholarship recipients and honored the legacy of Willie T. Edmondson. We appreciate everyone who helped to make these scholarships possible. Seeing these students succeed is exactly what this scholarship is all about, and we are extremely proud of them.”
