CASA of Troup County, Inc.

CASA of Troup County, Inc. Advocating for the best interests of Troup County's abused and neglected children. What is a CASA?

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer appointed by a judge to speak for the best interests of an abused or neglected child involved in a juvenile deprivation proceeding. The ultimate goal of a CASA volunteer is to help make sure the child has a safe and permanent home. Troup CASA is a nonprofit organization that recruits, screens, trains and supervises communit

y volunteers. The CASA volunteer gathers information about the child's situation, attends court proceedings and makes recommendations to the judge so that the judge has the information to make a decision about the child's future. The CASA volunteer advocates for the safety, permanency and well-being of the child. CASA volunteers help to change a child's life for a brighter future.

LaGrange, this one is for you.

Thursday, September 17. Free Recovery Month celebration at The Rail District Market on E Depot Street. 6 to 8 in the evening.

Live music. Food trucks. People who will get up and tell you the truth about what recovery actually took.

You don't have to be in recovery to come. If you love somebody who is, or you lost somebody, or you just want to stand in a room with people who understand, there's a seat for you.

It's free, but they're asking everyone to register first. Link in the comments.

The first day of school can be daunting for children, especially those experiencing foster care which may mean a new school environment for them as well!

Two local churches and long time supporters of our mission here at CASA of Troup recently donated supplies, book bags and monetarily to ease worries, provide comfort and allow for purchases to be made for those in need so this school year starts off strong for the children we serve!

Thank you St. Peter’s Catholic Church youth and adults who recently completed their School Bus Project, filling over 100 school bags with supplies!

Thank you Shoal Creek Baptist members. They recently concluded their Vacation Bible School where the children collected a special offering and chose to donate that to CASA to help aid in back to school needs for our older children in care!

We are grateful for these donations! We are thankful for our faith community that continues to love their neighbors in the best ways! We are uplifted that both of these projects were children/youth led initiatives in these churches!

Our hearts are so full!!!

Thank you!🙏 💕🎒
May this be the very best school year for all our children in Troup County!

Please help us welcome Vanetta Moss to our CASA of Troup County staff! Vanetta will serve as a volunteer coordinator on our team. She comes to us with extensive background and experience in coordinating community efforts to support children and families for the communities of Upson and Pike County through her many years of service with their local Family Connection Collaboratives. We are excited to have her join us and help us continue to support our volunteers as we advocate for children experiencing foster care in Troup County.

Welcome Vanetta!

Our Board of Directors met today for our annual planning meeting! To kick off the day, we took a walking field trip to grab a morning coffee and sweet treat from Cafe Brûlée & Dessert Bar. Then we worked hard through our page long agenda of items…reviewing finances, checking goals and objectives and planning for events for the new fiscal year…all with one main focus: advocating for best interests of children experiencing foster care in Troup County!

We ended our morning with a delicious lunch from Sloppy PigCatering!

Fun Friday!
