The Laguna Vista Police Department would like to thank Cameron County Precinct 1 Constable Norman Esquivel for inviting us to Water Wars at Cross Church in Laguna Vista!

Chief Holland and his team had a great time spending the day with the children. Officers Leos and Bernabe gave it their best shot but ultimately lost the water gun battle to the kids and ended up completely soaked! The children also had a blast dunking Chief Holland in the dunking booth.

Sergeant Vargas, Assistant Chief Guerra, and Officer Lambarri helped keep everyone cool by assisting with a cooling station for the children.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this event such a great time! We had a blast, and we can’t wait to see everyone at our National Night Out! 🇺🇸👮‍♂️🚓

🎉 Congratulations to Officer Salazar on Successfully Completing SWAT Training! 🎉

Officer Salazar recently completed six days of intensive SWAT training, gaining valuable experience in breaching techniques, building clearing, vehicle and bus operations, officer-down response and recovery, gas chamber operations, high-risk warrant ex*****on at residences, and many other critical law enforcement skills.

The Laguna Vista Police Department would like to recognize and thank Officer Salazar for his dedication, commitment, and determination to continually improve as a law enforcement officer. The knowledge, skills, and experience gained through this training make our team even stronger and better prepared to serve and protect the residents of Laguna Vista and the children of Point Isabel ISD.

On July 10, 2026, the Laguna Vista Police Department was grateful to participate in the Laguna Vista Library's summer event. The event gave children the opportunity to learn about marine life, discover local sea creatures, and gain hands-on experience with the basics of fishing. We appreciate the Laguna Vista Library for hosting this educational and fun-filled event for our community's youth!

The Laguna Vista Police Department and Fire Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to this young lady for her thoughtful generosity.

She provided our first responders, who were busy distributing sandbags to residents, with a delicious five gallon of homemade lemonade.

Acts of kindness like this mean so much to our team and are a wonderful reminder of the strong community spirit we share in Laguna Vista. Thank you for your support!

We will be at the Laguna Vista Fire Station until 4:00 PM today distributing sandbags. Limit of 6 bags per household/address while supplies last.

⚠️ ROAD CONSTRUCTION OF HWY-100 – LAGUNA VISTA COMMUNITY PSA ⚠️

Good afternoon, Laguna Vista residents.

The Laguna Vista Police Department has been notified by TXDOT that beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, crews will start the final phase of the newly constructed roadway project. The Laguna Vista Police Department will closely monitor traffic throughout this phase of construction.

🚗 Safety Reminders:
•Please maintain at least a two-car-length following distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.
•Please adhere to the posted speed limit of 55 mph. However, when construction workers are present, use extra caution and reduce your speed to 45 mph.
•Slow down and use extra caution while driving through areas affected by lane closures.
•Please be kind, patient, and courteous to everyone on the road.

Your cooperation will help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently during construction.

Officer John Reyes was one of the nominees representing the Laguna Madre area.
Officer Reyes has been with the Laguna Vista Police Department for the past four years, and his dedication and commitment to the department have not gone unnoticed.

Chief Holland attended a 24-hour CQB (Close Quarters Battle) Train-the-Trainer course from April 22nd through April 24th, hosted by Valor Law Enforcement Training and Consulting. Upon successful completion of the course, Chief Holland earned his certification as a CQB instructor. The knowledge and techniques gained will be brought back to the Laguna Vista Police Department, with the goal of training all officers in CQB tactics.

On April 11, 2026, at approximately 6:36 PM, Chief Daniel Holland, received a phone call from Port Isabel Communications requesting assistance with a water rescue in the Laguna Madre involving four young individuals on a personal watercraft.

At approximately 6:50 PM, Chief Waters and Chief Holland were underway and began searching for the individuals. At approximately 7:05 PM, we located the personal watercraft, which was pulling an inflatable carrying three 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old.
All four individuals were safely brought aboard Marine One and transported to Polaris Drive on South Padre Island for medical evaluation. Once all individuals were safely on shore they were evaluated by South Padre Island EMS and found to be okay!
