Did you know that we have 16 miles of hiking/biking trails to explore? Our favorite hike to recommend is the trail to the island, especially in the fall where the fall colors are in bloom. You may also see different interactions with the wildlife on the trails.

Need help mapping out your next hike, check out https://www.alltrails.com/ to see the trails in your area!

There are so many wonderful opportunities to take beautiful pictures of the sky. Sleepy Hollow State Park is a prime example. There are so many open sky places throughout the park to set up a blanket or telescope and enjoy the beauties of the sunrises, sunsets and wonders of space.

Another great place is Lake Hudson Recreation Area. Did you know Lake Hudson is a dark sky preserve? This is important because it preserves the park in its most natural state and there isn't any light pollution, making it one of the best places to go to star gaze!

Enjoy a day in the sun by launching a boat, kayak, paddleboard or canoe at Lake Ovid.

Not close to us? Check out another park like:

Brighton Recreation Area – Brighton Recreation Area offers a variety of paddling opportunities with access to six lakes, plus a connection to Caroga Lake through Bishop Lake, giving visitors access to a total of seven lakes to paddle on. The recreation area features six boat launches and one designated kayak launch at Bishop Lake. Three lakes are no-wake, providing a quieter paddling experience, although Appleton Lake permits wakes from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. Kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddleboard rentals are available at Bishop Lake.

Hayes State Park - Hayes State Park offers paddling opportunities on three lakes: Wamplers Lake, Round Lake, and Watkins Lake. The park has two boat launches but no designated kayak launches. Round Lake and Watkins Lake are no-wake lakes, making them ideal for a peaceful paddling experience. Kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals are coming soon to Wamplers Lake. For those looking to explore beyond the park, nearby Allen Lake provides access to a scenic chain of connected lakes linked by canals that are well suited for paddling.

After a year and a half, the modern campground is just a few days away from opening!!🎉 The campground will open Thursday June 4th at 3pm (we will open earlier if our contractors are done working earlier than 3pm). For the month of June, the campground will be open Thursday to Monday, so the contractors can complete the finishing touches during the week. On July 1st, the campground will fully open. The beach building remains under construction. There are portable toilets at the beach. Pictured one of the new toilet/shower buildings in the campground.
