This hammock park was created and built as an Eagle Scout project by Owen Smith from BSA Troop 123.

We are inviting the whole community to come out to the 100 Year Celebration of my Troop, Troop 123! It is a drop-in style event. Free admission! Whether you were a scout, knew a scout, wanted to be a scout, or just want to show your support for my troop or scouting in general, join us for the fun. Come tour our scout house which was built over 50 years ago and is decorated with many pieces of troop memorabilia. We will have activities and demonstrations throughout the event Hope to see you there.

We got to enjoy some hammock time this morning. I don’t want summer to end.

The final touches were done to the hammock park on the 4th. We were able to add caps to the sign posts and attach the bronze plaque that came in. I wasn’t expecting the plaque to arrive until the end of the month.
Thanks to all who have followed me through this journey. I have learned so much through this entire project. I am very pleased with the way it turned out. Hopefully you get a chance to visit Mackay Gardens and relax in your hammock here soon.

This past Saturday, my Mom, Dad, and I were able to put up the sign at the hammock park. It officially marks the area and lets people know how it’s to be used.
When you get a chance, bring your hammock out to the park and enjoy some nature time.

The sign for the park came out fabulous! I am so pleased. Thanks to Mark, the owner of Cypress Signs in Winter Haven and Ms Lisa for helping design and making this beautiful sign. I will be putting it up at the park soon. Thank you

We came. We saw. We built! Today we did the actual build for the hammock park. Members of my Troop 123, friends, and family came out to help. I am so pleased with the way it turned out. It was a lot of work but the results were worth it. Here are some pictures from today. Thank you to everyone who were there for all the help!

We’ve spent a couple days staining and sealing the poles for the hammock park to give them time to dry before Sunday. Shout out to Connor, Chris, and Brayden from my troop for their help.

Time to purchase the building supplies. We stopped by Lowes Wednesday afternoon in Winter Haven, Florida and were able to get most of what we needed for the hammock park. Thanks goes out to Store managers Jacky and Lee, and Angela in customer service for their help.
That wood and concrete were heavy. It flattened the tire on the trailer. Luckily we were able to air it back up before driving home.

Staked out the area for the hammock poles to get a visual look yesterday. This allows us to verify proper placement and overall size. Planning for the build next weekend. So excited!
