The YST Fish and Wildlife Commission met to discuss the upcoming hunting seasons regarding any potential changes.

Game reports from the SD GF&P shows decreases in big game populations, they have limited East River Deer licenses and in counties east of us completely canceled deer seasons.

Based on that the Commission is considering: 1. Only issue deer licenses to YST Tribal members; 2. Only issue turkey licenses to Yankton Sioux Tribal members; 3. Limiting the number of deer tags issues.

We are asking for Tribal member input into these considerations and any other hunting related concerns/comments.

What's your thoughts...been seeing less deer and think our season needs to be limited or tags limited for this year?? We will be looking at game counts to see if adjustments need to be made.

For a variety of reasons the deer population in southeastern South Dakota is low. In response, the state Game, Fish and Parks Commission has decided to reduce hunting activity there.
