First as mayor of Lake Arthur I would like to apologize to Councilman Duke Broussard, Tony Dobson, Jeffery Guidry and Ray Mott (fire dept board members) for not making this post sooner. None of them deserve the treatment they have received. I appointed these guys to a board to help me make the fire department better, not the town council. The committee helped me find a new fire chief and help get the department better. They recommended Corey Vincent to be our new fire chief several months ago and the council appointed him as our chief. Maybe some people don’t see the improvements but I do.

This past few days there were a lot of false information shared on Facebook and their families were attacked. I think that was uncalled for and just wrong. We have a great town and have made huge improvements in our short time in office.

Again I want to encourage Duke to stay on council and run for re-election. He has done so much for this town and me. Please help me to convince him to stay. Negative comments not welcomed

Yesterday the Lake Arthur Fire Department, Fire District 4, and Klondike Fire departments jointly participated in a monthly training, focusing on Pumping operations.

There may be negativity and criticism from time to time, but I hope we never lose sight of what truly matters — the men and women who are willing to step up and serve when their community needs them.

Our rural fire departments plays an important role in keeping our community safe, and its operations will continue moving forward in a positive, professional, and cooperative manner.

Challenges can be addressed, differences can be worked through, and we can continue to focus on what matters most: serving and protecting our community.

Qualifying begins tomorrow, August 5 and continues until Friday, August 7, 2026 at the Jefferson Davis Parish Clerk of Courts Office at Parish Courthouse for local and parish elections. Qualifying hours are 8:30 to 4:30 each day.

Note - both school board representatives for the Lake Arthur area (Bordelon -Dist #1 and Dobson - Dist. #2) are term limiting out and not eligible to run for re-election. (School Board Members are subject to three term limits)
