See below update on Green Bay Road construction
Dear Lake Bluff Residents:
🚧 The purpose of this communication is to provide an update on the Green Bay Road Reconstruction Project.
🔨 WORK COMPLETED OVER THE LAST 30 DAYS
Construction Progress: As is typical with projects of this scale, Campanella Construction has focused on preparing the site and completing important underground utility work. Recent activities have included:
🛠️ Locating and protecting underground utilities
🌳 Installing tree protection measures
💧 Implementing stormwater management controls
🚰 Replacing outdated water services
🌫️ Continuing dust control efforts throughout the project area
🚦 Traffic Control, Detours, and Access: To help manage traffic impacts and maintain neighborhood safety:
🐢 Reduced speed limits remain in place in the East and West Terrace Subdivisions
⛰️ Speed humps have been installed in East Terrace and will be installed in West Terrace tomorrow
👮 The Lake Bluff Police Department continues regular traffic enforcement patrols in the area
🚌 Road closure signage and barricades have been adjusted to accommodate school bus access
🔮 LOOKING AHEAD: THE NEXT 60 DAYS
🚜 Upcoming Construction Activities
Beginning on the last day of school, June 8, the contractor will begin milling Green Bay Road and removing the underlying concrete road base. Gravel will then be placed and compacted along the entire roadway.
This work will progress from south to north, starting just south of West Witchwood Lane and continuing to West Center Avenue. The milling and excavation phase is expected to take approximately two weeks.
⚠️ It is important to know that this work will involve the temporary closure (2–3 days) of the southernmost end of the project area starting June 9; then, the northernmost end of the project area will be closed for 2–3 days the week of June 15th.
Following this work:
🌧️ New storm sewer installation will begin and is expected to take approximately six weeks
🧱 Curb installation will follow and is anticipated to take an additional two weeks
🚗 Traffic Control, Detours, and Access
During this phase of construction, the Village will continue all current traffic calming and enforcement measures. With school out for the summer, barricades and detour signage will also be modified to further limit through traffic in residential areas.
Please note that milling and excavation activities will occur one block at a time. Access to active work zones will be limited for approximately 2–3 days per block. Residents should expect temporary disruptions and may need to use alternate routes to travel north or south through the area. Please allow additional travel time during construction.
We kindly ask all motorists to drive slowly and remain alert for workers, equipment, and neighbors traveling through the construction zone.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete these important infrastructure improvements for the community.
Sincerely,
Jeff Hansen
Village Engineer
