Fire Door Inspections:
Annual fire door inspections were introduced with the adoption of the 2007 Edition of NFPA 80. The newest standard requires that fire-rated doors be tested for functionality no less than annually and that a written record of the inspection be kept on file for the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Our inspectors ensure that your fire doors are code compliant and are working properly and they also provide you with proof for your AHJ with the best report in the business.
Our report includes the following:
- Total Doors, Compliant and Non-Compliant
- Reasons for Failure
- Locations Per Floor, per Building
- Detailed Inventory of all the facility’s fire doors (including but not limited to):
* Door Location, number, rating, reasons for non-compliance.
*Documentation of some non-compliance issues to provide AHJs and the facility’s insurance providers.
Our technicians hold multiple fire door inspection certifications from the Door and Hardware Institute.
Many doors, such as those protecting exit stairs, horizontal exits, and hazardous areas, are required to be fire-protection rated. With the adoption of the 2012 edition of NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), many healthcare facilities will have to add fire-protection rated doors to their list of building systems that require periodic inspection and testing. Health care facilities that are subject to the CMS requirements WILL need to conduct fire door inspections annually, document the findings, and make needed repairs immediately.
