Our deputies were out bright and early this morning welcoming our elementary students back to class. We loved seeing all the smiling faces and helping kick off a great new school year.

We hope all of our students, teachers, staff, and parents have a safe and successful year!

🎒📚 IT’S THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! 🚌
Students are heading back to the classroom today, which means our school zones and roadways will be busy once again.
🚸 Slow down in school zones.
👀 Watch for students walking and biking.
🚌 Be alert for school buses making frequent stops.
🛑 Know when you’re required to stop for a school bus.
When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, pay attention and STOP when required by law.
Give yourself a little extra time, put the distractions away, and stay alert behind the wheel.
Let’s work together to make the first day of school a safe one for our students, teachers, bus drivers, and families!

🚌 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER

As students return to school tomorrow, please slow down and stay alert! Watch your speed in school zones, keep an eye out for children walking or biking, and be prepared for school buses making frequent stops.

Know when to stop for a school bus. When those red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, make sure you know the law and STOP when required.

A few extra seconds of patience can help keep our students safe.

The Ward Three Marshal's Office was honored to assist with the Bonnie and Clyde reenactment. Seeing the smiles, laughter, and excitement on the faces of the residents, families, and all in attendance made it a truly special day.
Building relationships and supporting community events like these reminds us that serving our community goes beyond our daily responsibilities.

I’ve received several calls asking about upcoming school supply giveaways, so I put together a list of some of the events and resources happening around Lake Charles over the next couple of weeks.

There is a lot going on this weekend and next week for students and families. This list includes school supply giveaways, community resource fairs, tutoring opportunities, free haircuts, hygiene items, donation drives, and more. The goal isn’t just to get kids ready for the first day of school, but to help connect families with resources that can support them throughout the school year.

Thank you to all of the churches, businesses, nonprofits, schools, volunteers, and community organizations that are investing in our kids.
