What is reentry?

“Reentry” is more than just a word. It represents the journey of individuals returning to society after incarceration and working to rebuild their lives. Reentry is about second chances, restoration, accountability, healing, and hope.

For many, reentry means reconnecting with family, finding stable employment, securing housing, continuing education, and learning how to successfully navigate life after incarceration. It is not an easy process, and the challenges can be overwhelming without support and resources.

The word “reentry” reminds us that people are more than their past mistakes. Everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, contribute, and become productive members of the community. When communities support reentry efforts, we help reduce barriers, strengthen families, increase public safety, and create pathways to success.

At the heart of reentry is one simple message: people can change, and support matters.

Today, the Calcasieu Prisoner Reentry Initiative honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. On this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on their courage, dedication, and selfless service.

As we work each day to help individuals rebuild their lives and strengthen our communities, we are reminded that freedom and opportunity come at a great cost. We extend our deepest gratitude to the fallen heroes and their families whose sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

The answer is no. Wills and successions are typically handled in Civil Court, not Family and Juvenile Court.

Understanding the difference matters because every Court has a different role in serving our community. Knowledge is power!

Jeff Davis Parish Child Nutrition Department will offer Summer Free 7-Day Meal Kits for children 0-18 years of age each Monday starting June 1, 2026, and ending July 20, 2026. Please use the link or QR code to register. One registration form must be completed per child, and the selected pick-up-site location at the time of registration will be the designated pick-up-site for the summer. Pre-registration will close on May 26, 2026. On-site registration will be available for the first three designated pick-up dates.
