On Monday evening the Lake Missaukee Area Fire Department conducted a scenario based training that involved a 2 car personal injury accident with entrapment (Rescue Randy). The team arrived on scene without prior knowledge of what they were going to come across and had to work together to determine the best way to extricate Randy. As expected the group did great work together and were able to turn Randy over to Missaukee County EMS. Training then continued with everyone getting time with the equipment in their hands to refresh their skills. Extrication is one of the most important things we do and every second counts. Thank you to Missaukee County EMS for joining and providing very useful information to the team. Also a huge thank you to Spears Towing for providing the two vehicles for us to get this very important training. We look forward to working together again in the future.

Fire Departments that work so well together is such a benefit to the community and we are glad to be a part of it!

Giving back and serving the community isn’t just responding to emergencies. On Friday evening several members of the Lake Missaukee Area Fire Department gathered with their families and friends, partnering with the Missaukeeee County Road Commission, and participated in the spring time “Adopt a Road” roadside pickup. LMFD members are always happy to do our part in keeping the community not only safe, but clean too!

At approximately 0152 hours the Lake Missaukee Area Fire Department was dispatched to S Morey Rd in Lake City for a report of a commercial building, fully engulfed. Upon arrival, units worked throughout the morning hours to extinguish the flames. Units subsequently cleared the scene just after 7am.

LMAFD would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our partnering departments who assisted us this morning. Those include: McBain Area Fire Department, Lake City Area Fire Department, Clam Union Fire Department, Merritt Area Fire Department, Missaukee EMS, and the Missaukee County Sheriffs Department.

Another big thank you to the Lake City Wesco gas station and the Lake City E-Z Mart who provided warm refreshments and snacks to those who were battling the cold weather.
