Lake City Public Library The Lake City Public Library is a warm and inviting place where patrons of all ages can come and discover.

The Lake City Public Library serves the residents of Lake City and the surrounding area. As a member of SELCO, the regional library system, we have access to items from all libraries in Southeastern Minnesota. In addition to traditional check out items, we offer internet access, and special events such as children’s programming and community movie nights.

The books in this photo were returned in our outdoor drop box. All of them are damaged in some way.

Some will have to be thrown away because the damage is so severe.

None of them were checked out, which means they were stolen from the library.

The cost to replace these books is around $350.

This is a great reminder that while our books are free to patrons, the cost to replace damaged or lost items is high, and we are not always able to do it. It can mean that the books our patrons want may no longer be available.
