Watch the forecast, plan accordingly and bring an umbrella, maybe this needed rain will come!

Increasing thunderstorm coverage is expected this afternoon with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, especially south of Waycross, GA.

Storms will move slowly, and strong storms may produce rainfall at a rate of 3 to 5 inches per hour. Though individual storms aren't likely to last an hour, they still have the potential to wring out 1 to 2 inches of rain as they "pulse up."

Heavy downpours may cause brief flooding in flood-prone areas, especially urban locations.

I’m going to get in trouble for posting this but I wanted to take a second and brag on our guys/girls. This week we have had 30 kids at the station attending a kids fitness and education camp. These firefighters are not getting paid extra, they typically stay over following their shift to help with the camp. These kids love them and are having a blast. This video shows the dedication not only to the kids and our community but to the fire service in general. There is a lot of grumbling we hear as Chiefs every day, but I will listen to that all day long if I get this in return! Thank you to my team for making Lake City Fire Department the best department around. Chief Wehinger

Day 3 mission accomplished, huge thanks to Lake City Police Department for taking the mini-me’s under their wing and educating them on law and order while we fired up the grill for some good ol’ burgers and hotdogs, thanks to Wawa Convenience Store of Lake City for the snack attack coverage and Buddy’s Home Furnishings, Peeler Pools, and Chelsea Flores State Farm for the cold drinks.
