🧵 Does your kid already know how to sew? We need THEM! 🪡🍀

The new 4-H Stitch Squad isn’t just for beginners!

Youth ages 8+ who already have sewing experience can bring their skills to the club as Super Sewing Mentors — sharing what they know, helping other members learn and building their own leadership skills along the way.

Whether you know a few basic stitches or you’re already comfortable behind a sewing machine, there’s room to keep learning, create new projects and help someone else discover a skill you enjoy. 💚

Know a young sewer who would make a great mentor? Tag their family or share this with them!

🍀 How it started vs. how it’s going…
For National 4-H Week, we dug into the archives—and found a pretty good reminder that sometimes 4-H isn’t just something you do as a kid. It becomes part of who you are. 💚
Long before they were working together at County Extension, Ms. Heather and Ms. Zoie were both 4-H members. Different counties, different projects and different experiences—but the same green clover was there helping them learn, grow, serve and build skills along the way. From 4-H members to 4-H professionals—they may have changed roles, but never really left 4-H. 🍀 💚

Now we want to see yours! Were you a 4-H’er growing up? Share your own “How it started vs. how it’s going” in the comments! Dig out an old 4-H photo and pair it with where you are today—or just tell us how 4-H has been part of your story. We’d love to see where that green clover has taken you! 🍀

It’s Thankful Thursday, and we have so much to be grateful for!

Today, we’re especially thankful for the amazing volunteers who help make Columbia County 4-H possible. Your time, encouragement, and dedication help create opportunities for our 4-H’ers to learn new skills, build confidence, and grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

Thank you for being an important part of our 4-H family and for helping our youth become Beyond Ready!

Tomorrow is our fruit tree and berry sale from 3-5 pm! Cash and check only. We have some very large peaches, nectarines, and plums, so come prepared! In addition to our usuals (peaches, blueberries, blackberries, figs, etc), we have some unique edibles including turmeric, goji berries, pineapple, bananas, and dragonfruit. We have a limited quantity of everything. Check with us on Friday to see what we have left or stop by the office (8am-5pm).

🧵✂️ A NEW 4-H CLUB IS JOINING THE LINEUP! 🪡🍀

Grab your thread and get ready to create — the 4-H Stitch Squad is kicking off on Monday, October 26!

This new club is open to youth ages 8+ and ALL skill levels. Never sewn before? No problem! Members can learn everything from hand stitching and sewing machine basics to essential sewing skills while creating fun personal projects and projects that give back to our community. 💚

Already know your way around a needle and thread or sewing machine? We need you, too! Experienced sewers can put their skills to work as Super Sewing Mentors, helping other members learn while building their own leadership skills.

🍀 Beyond Ready looks different for every 4-H’er! 🎣💚Florida 4-H Youth Development Program

When we asked 3rd grader Braelyn what 4-H has helped her be Beyond Ready to do, she knew exactly what to write:

“Go fishin’!” 🎣

After participating in our Outdoor Adventures Day Camp this past summer, Braelyn discovered just how much fun getting outdoors, learning new skills and trying new things can be. And apparently, she’s ready for more! 😊

That’s what 4-H is all about—giving young people hands-on experiences that spark new interests, build confidence and leave them excited to keep learning long after the activity is over.

During National 4-H Week, we’re celebrating youth like Braelyn and all the ways 4-H is helping Columbia County kids become Beyond Ready for whatever adventure comes next. 🍀
