The "SongFarmers of the Suwannee River Valley of Florida" is a monthly gathering of musicians and folk artists whose mission is to support learning and the enjoyment of traditional American roots music in the community. Formed under the guidance and sponsorship of the Woodsongs Front Porch Association (WFPA), this gathering seeks to bring the essence of the traditional "front porch" style musica
l gatherings of the past back to our culture and communities and to preserve and perpetuate the joy of music as a vital part of our communities. We are all "Song Farmers" seeking to cultivate music in our community. All ages and skill levels are welcome and provided an opportunity for musicians to learn and grown while being part of a larger group. Periodic opportunities to perform for audiences will be provided to those who wish to do so. There is NO CHARGE to attend the gatherings. The music is acoustic, without electric amplification. Gatherings are held at St. James Episcopal Church, 2423 SW Bascom Norris Drive, Lake City, Florida 32025 the first Saturday of each month at 7:00 - 9:00 PM, unless otherwise noted. The mission statement of the Woodsongs Front Porch Association is: "To gather the global community of front porch minded musicians and help them do good work, bring roots music education into schools free of charge, and enhance communities by redirecting the tremendous energies of local musicians. We call our members “Song Farmers.”
