Today we’re celebrating the people who keep everything running behind the scenes—our incredible maintenance team! 🛠️💚

From early mornings to late afternoons, they’re fixing, building, moving, repairing, and improving the spaces where our students learn and grow every day. When something breaks, they’re already on it. When a campus needs a refresh, they make it happen. And when a problem pops up, they’re the calm, capable crew ready with the right tools (and usually a pretty good sense of humor, too).

Because of their hard work, our classrooms stay safe, our campuses stay beautiful, and our students and staff can focus on what matters most—learning.

Please join us in saying thank you to the maintenance professionals who keep everything running smoothly. We appreciate you more than you know! 👏🔧

There’s nothing better than a good story… except sharing it together. 📚✨

In celebration of Read Across America Week, some special guest readers stopped by our elementary campuses to spend time reading with our youngest learners! District administration, members of the Board of Trustees, and middle and high school students representing several organizations, these Falcons took time to open a book, share a story, and inspire a love of reading.

Moments like these remind us that reading isn’t just a skill — it’s a way to connect, spark imagination, and build a lifelong love of learning.

Thank you to all of our guest readers for helping make this week extra special for our students!📗

Adventure is just a page away… and this week, we’re opening as many books as we can! 📚✨

During Read Across America Week — a nationwide celebration led by the National Education Association — we’re shining a spotlight on the power of stories to spark imagination, build empathy, and inspire big dreams.

Reading gives our students the chance to explore worlds far beyond the classroom walls. Every page turned strengthens vocabulary, fuels creativity, and builds confident learners ready to take on whatever comes next.

So whether it’s five minutes before bed or a full-on reading marathon, let’s encourage our young adventurers to grab a book and see where it takes them.

Because around here, the journey starts with a story. 📖

He will also engage in webinars, case studies, and community discussions to elevate educator capacity and student outcomes in STEAM, as well as share innovative ideas, classroom strategies, and best practices with fellow educators and the SAM Labs team.

The Board of Trustees recognized Mr. Starr and LDMS for this accomplishment at their February regular monthly meeting.

At the February monthly meeting of the LDISD Board of Trustees, we recognized LDHS Vocalist Helen Stratton!

Helen earned the prestigious distinction of All-State Member through a rigorous, multi-level audition process that included Region, Pre-Area, and Area competitions.

All-State recognition represents the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve. Only the top 3% of students who begin the audition process ultimately earn the title of All-State musician.

Congratulations Helen!

At the February regular monthly meeting of the LDISD Board of Trustees, we recognized LDHS FFA Member Nathan Gonzalez!

Nathan was awarded a $1,000 Agricultural Mechanics Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grant, funded by RaboBank through the National FFA Organization.

SAE projects are a cornerstone of the FFA experience, giving students opportunities to apply classroom learning in real-world agricultural settings—whether that’s running a business, gaining industry experience, or exploring independent research. Through his SAE project, Nathan is developing practical skills, leadership abilities, and career readiness that will serve him well beyond high school.
Nathan’s application stood out among 1,468 submissions from across the country, with only nine students in Texas selected to receive this grant.
