CODE OF THE MONTH

We're continuing the City's "Code of the Month" initiative this September with guidance on Abandoned and Junk Vehicles.

As a reminder, concerns involving vehicles parked on public roadways should be directed to the Lake Dallas Police Department.

As a reminder, this initiative is centered around three simple objectives:
✅EDUCATE: Provide clear, helpful information about existing codes and ordinances
✅ENCOURAGE: Support proactive compliance through awareness and understanding
✅ENHANCE: Improve our community’s appearance and overall appeal

We’re sharing this as a courtesy reminder so that residents have time to make any needed adjustments. Code Enforcement will begin reaching out directly to residents after about two weeks to reiterate this information.

We appreciate everyone doing their part. These small steps help keep our community clean, safe, and looking its best.

If you have any questions, contact City Hall at (940) 497-2226 ext. 403

The Denton County Commissioners Court has issued a COUNTY-WIDE MANDATORY BURN BAN, effective today, August 25, 2026.

The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning and also includes restrictions on:

🚫 Outdoor hot work, including welding and cutting torch operations
🚫 The use of certain combustible materials
🚫 Other activities identified in the burn ban order that may create an increased fire hazard

Dry conditions across Denton County have significantly increased the risk of rapidly spreading wildfires. Everyone is encouraged to use extreme caution with any activity that could produce heat, sparks, or open flame.

⚠️ Violation of the County Judge’s executive-ordered burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.

Please visit the Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office website for specific information regarding restrictions, requirements, and exceptions under the burn ban. https://www.dentoncounty.gov/210/Fire-Marshal

Help us protect our communities, property, and first responders by doing your part to prevent wildfires.

It's been a hot summer, and we've still got a little ways to go before things start cooling off for the fall.

Here's a refresher on how to beat the Texas heat and keep yourself safe and prevent overheating ⤵

💧HYDRATE - Drink plenty of water. Take water bottles with you if you plan to be outdoors for an extended period. Continue to drink water when you're indoors to keep your body hydrated.

🔆WEAR SUNSCREEN - Apply sunscreen when going outdoors, and re-apply regularly. If you get a sunburn, take cool showers and use aloe-based moisturizers and lotions to soothe and heal aggravated areas.

❄️KEEP COOL - When outdoors, rest in shaded areas whenever possible. Utilize air conditioning whenever it's available. Monitor temperatures and know when it's best to just stay inside.

HUNDLEY UPDATE 🚗

The central portion of Hundley Drive is now open in BOTH directions, from Lakeview Drive to Shady Shores Road. The freshly-poured concrete has finished curing and is strong enough to support traffic flow in both lanes.

Hundley remains one-way westbound from Shady Shores Road to Lake Dallas Drive.

A few driveways still need to be paved and have been marked off. Please exercise caution in these areas.

Please also remain cautious and attentive as motorists and pedestrians re-adjust to regular traffic flow on Central Hundley.
