Congratulations to Lake Forest Community High School freshman William Hsu for earning 1st place in the Lake County America 250 K–12 Art & Essay Contest, “We the People: America Through My Eyes.”

The contest invited students to reflect on their personal vision of America and explore how their life, family, traditions, community, and culture contribute to the larger story of our nation. William’s essay stood out for its thoughtful examination of the meaning behind the Constitution’s opening words, “We the People.”

In his essay, William writes: “When you say ‘We the People,’ ‘We’ means you, too.”

He continues by describing the phrase as both “an explicit affirmation of our government’s original purpose” and “a living statement that demands something from a living country.”

William will be recognized at the June Lake County Board meeting for this outstanding achievement.

Congratulations, William!

Looking out at the Class of 2026 one final time, Superintendent Dr. Matthew Montgomery reflected on the moments that often matter most.

"Ordinary days have a way of becoming the story of our lives."

The classes, conversations, friendships, performances, competitions, and everyday experiences that may have seemed ordinary at the time have become part of each graduate's story.

Congratulations, Class of 2026, and thank you for being part of the LFHS story.

What makes the high school experience unforgettable?

For Lake Forest Community High School students, the memories are as unique as the people who made them. From cheering on classmates at sporting events and spending time in the Senior Commons to discovering new passions, forming lifelong friendships, traveling across the country, and stepping outside their comfort zones, these moments helped shape their high school journey.

Current students reflects on their time at LFHS, one thing is clear: the experiences, connections, and opportunities they found along the way will stay with them long after graduation.
