Park County has rescinded its Stage 2 fire ban effective today. As of today, fires are allowed again in the designated fire pits around the park. These conditions can change at any time, so please be sure to check Hartsel Fire Protection District website (hartselfire.org) for updates to any future fire bans.

🚨 Make sure to register your burn🚨

Stay safe, and thank you for following fire safety guidelines!!

With the water level at Spinney continuing to drop, the ramp is significantly out of the water. While the gates are still open to increase the ease of hand-launching craft, please do not drive off of the concrete. Vehicles are beginning to drive off the concrete and down the shoreline. Continuing actions like these will force the park to close the ramp gates, increasing the distance vessels will need to be walked to the waters edge.

Two of these posts in nine days is absolutely devastating.

Our thoughts are with the victim and their family and friends.

Please, help us when we need to help you. Wear a properly fitting life jacket. While never 100% effective, as was shown last week, the amount of water rescues we respond to where people go home at night because they were wearing their life jacket is exponentially more than those that don’t.

We remain grateful for our partner First Responder agencies in Park County and beyond that provide assistance in these critical incidents.

Due to low water levels and high water temperatures, CPW is enacting voluntary fishing closures on the South Platte River. For the State Parks, this means that the Dream Stream and the South Platte above Spinney are included in these voluntary closures, occurring daily from Noon to Midnight.

Please help us keep our fisheries healthy through these drought conditions by respecting the closures. Additional closures around Park County and beyond are listed in the press release.

Spinney Mountain Update:

The North Boat Ramp at Spinney Mountain Reservoir will close to trailered launching 1/2 hour after sunset on Friday, July 17th due to low water levels. Spinney Mountain Reservoir will remain open to hand launched, motorized vessels.

06/30/2026

With the Fourth of July holiday quickly approaching, we wanted to remind everyone that fireworks (including sparklers, bottle rockets, etc.) are never allowed in the parks.

Hartsel Fire and Park County are currently in a Stage 2 Fire Ban, meaning fires of any kind are not allowed at Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks (except propane grills with an on/off switch).

Dry conditions have made wildfire risk incredibly high. Help us keep our visitors, wildlife, and parks safe by leaving the fireworks at home!

We hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe Fourth of July!

Spinney Update:

In conversations with Aurora Water, and with current drought conditions around the state, we are expecting Spinney water levels to start dropping, starting as early as next week. We will be keeping the boat ramp available for as long as possible, but expect the reservoir to return to hand launched vessels only in the near future. We appreciate everybody's understanding as we navigate a tough summer for water, and will keep updates coming as conditions continue to change.

🚩County-Wide Stage 2 Burn Ban Effective Tonight! 🚩

06/14/2026

Starting Monday, June 15th, we will begin allowing trailered vessels to launch at Spinney's North Boat Ramp. Please utilize the middle portion of the boat ramp. Due to water levels we are not able to place docks in the water at this time. Launching is at your own risk. Vessels over 16' are not recommended as there is deep sediment at the end of the ramp. Staff is working on installing the breakwater buoys but it may take some time.
