Village of Lake Hallie Selects Jesse James as Chief of Police

Lake Hallie, WI – The Village of Lake Hallie is pleased to announce the selection of Jesse James as its next Chief of Police, following a comprehensive and collaborative selection process.

James currently serves as a Wisconsin State Senator and brings extensive law enforcement leadership experience to the role, including prior service as Chief of Police for the Altoona Police Department. His background reflects a strong commitment to public safety, operational effectiveness, and community engagement.

The selection process included both a community panel interview and a formal interview with the Police Commission, ensuring a well-rounded evaluation of leadership, communication style, and alignment with the Village’s priorities.

Village Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer Anastasia Stueber shared, “We were intentional in designing a process that incorporated both community perspective and commission oversight. Jesse demonstrated strong leadership, approachability, and a clear understanding of the role law enforcement plays within a growing community. I am looking forward to collaborating with him to continue moving the Village forward as a whole.”

James shared his appreciation for the opportunity, stating, “I am excited and blessed for this opportunity. Lake Hallie has a special place in my heart; it is where I grew up as a kid. Now to serve as the Police Chief is special. I am excited to get to work, and I look forward to working with the amazing staff and having all of us take Lake Hallie PD to the next level.”

James’ appointment is contingent upon the successful completion of standard pre-employment requirements, including a background investigation, medical evaluation, and psychological assessment. His anticipated start date will be announced following completion of these items.
