"In recognition of exceptional courage, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the safety of others, we proudly honor Officer Manuel Yanes for his decisive actions during a critical incident involving JROTC Cadets caught in a dangerous riptide. Without hesitation and at personal risk, he jumped in the water and successfully assisted in bringing multiple panicked Cadets safely back to shore. His actions exemplify the highest ideals of duty, honor, integrity, and respect-core values of the JROTC program and serve as powerful example of leadership and service to others. His professionalism and bravery reflect great credit upon himself and the law enforcement community."
