📝 Candidate Interview Series – Written Response

As part of the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce Candidate Interview Series, candidates were invited to participate by sharing their responses to questions focused on local priorities, economic growth, infrastructure, workforce needs, small business support, and the future of Lake Havasu City.

Teri Parcells, candidate for Lake Havasu City Council , submitted written responses in place of a recorded interview.

We encourage residents to read through the candidate’s responses and learn more about their priorities and vision for our community.

📍 Election Day: July 21, 2026

The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce provides these candidate interviews as a nonpartisan voter information resource. Candidate responses are presented as submitted and do not constitute an endorsement.

Question 1: What are your top three priorities for Lake Havasu City, and what specific actions would you take in your first year to advance them? Answer: (1) Budget. As a successful business owner, I know how to budget money. I would review all incoming and outgoing money and be sure we are economically responsible and transparent. Taxpayers need to know how their money is spent. I would pursue all available financial possibilities including grants. (2) Infrastructure. I want to thoroughly review the documents bearing the maintenance history of our infrastructure and ultimately partake in developing and implementing a comprehensive plan and schedule for repairs and maintenance. (3) Development. I would negotiate with all stakeholders to ensure responsible and controlled growth and development while simultaneously protecting the rights of all property owners.

Question 2: How would you support a strong local economy while addressing growth-related challenges such as infrastructure, housing, workforce needs, traffic, and quality of life? Answer: I will promote responsible growth and development while protecting our “paradise” for our youths, families, full time residents and visitors. I will always support our tourism but would like to develop ideas for other revenue. As to housing, we all know the Mayor and City Council have little to no power to regulate affordable housing and workforce needs, however, we can encourage and seek joint resolutions by negotiating with prospective developers, investors and business owners, and possibly offer incentives to consummate such resolutions. We must exercise due diligence when considering zoning changes.

Question 3: What role should local and state government play in helping businesses succeed, and what policies or partnerships would you support to strengthen small businesses, tourism, and workforce development? Answer: Government should support all businesses equally and be completely transparent when doing so. Our local Chamber is a good partnership for helping businesses succeed and it does a great job in our community. I support incentives and training programs to get our unemployed individuals into the workforce field and off welfare, and I welcome large businesses to our City.

Comments: I have a lifetime experience in the legal field protecting the rights of citizens. I am a professional researcher and have extensive knowledge with budgets, taxes, inventory, payroll, policies and procedures, customer service and problem solving. Please vote for me, Teri Kay Parcells.
