✨ Rotary Meeting Recap: August 24th, 2026 πŸ“‹

What a great meeting! President Cameron opened with Taylor leading us in shared Gratitude, and there was so much to be thankful for this week. πŸ’›

πŸŽ‰ Sally announced she's going to be a grandma!
πŸ‘‹ Ralph made it back for a meeting, so good to see you!
πŸ™ We were grateful Jamie could join us
πŸ’™ Jon shared how thankful he is for the support and friendship of this club through Jo's passing
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Ryan was grateful for his family
πŸ“ž Maddie was grateful for the phones ringing
❀️ Cameron shared his gratitude for his family

A Special Presentation πŸ†
Cameron and Jamie honored John with a special presentation for Jo, the Jo Navaretta Scholarship. Jo and John have given so much to our community! Jo dedicated 24 years to the Governing Board in Education, served on the Mohave Community College Foundation, and was part of the campaign to bring ASU to Lake Havasu City. What a legacy! πŸ™Œ

Guest Speaker: Water in Our City πŸ’§
We welcomed Tim Kellet from Lake Havasu City Public Works (Water Division), who shared some great insight:
🚰 32,000 water service connections citywide
🏠 The City is responsible for all water reaching our property
πŸ“‰ They are targeting water loss. The industry standard for water loss is 10% or less, we're at 8.9%!
πŸ”§ They also track where main breaks are located. The industry is 20-22%, and we are running 15.8 in 2024 and 12.4 in 2025 per 100 miles of water.
πŸ’° The water budget is $40M, with 24% going toward replacing older water mains
♻️ Replacing the older water meters helps to reduce water loss

Our water company is a city-owned business, and the rate we pay is a service to receive the water at our property.

Fundraising Fun 🎩
Taylor stepped back up as Sergeant at Arms to raise money for our club socials!

Taylor went back to the podium to raise funds for our socials by fining us for our Happy, Sad, and Travel bucks! πŸ˜„πŸ’°

πŸ’™ Today was a Day of Service to fill laundry baskets for Veterans returning from military service. Rotarians brought the filling items, and Sterilite donated the 24 laundry baskets. We donated any leftover products or items to The Clothes Closet and Havasu HOPE.

✨ Another great Rotary meeting in the books! πŸ“‹

President Cameron kicked off the meeting by welcoming and introducing our guests, including several members’ children as they prepare to head back to school this week, along with our local High School Interact students. It’s always inspiring to see the next generation getting involved! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ“– Andrea reminded everyone about the dictionary handout coming up in September.

πŸŽ“ Special guest: We were honored to hear from Dr. Chrissy Holliday, President of Mohave College! Dr. Holliday, who moved to Kingman from Northern California, shared exciting updates on the College's bachelor's program and Workforce Development program. Her vision is to continue keeping Mohave College on the same trajectory and enhance the programs that have been created. She is excited to work with the communities to better the College.

πŸ™ Gratitude moments with Taylor, our Sergeant at Arms:

πŸ—³οΈ Cal is grateful for the community's support during his re-election run for Mayor.
🏑 Becky is grateful to Carrie for opening her home to her and Allison to attend a memorial.
πŸ‘Ά Steve is grateful for his daughter-in-law, who gave birth to their new grandchild.
✈️ Ilan is grateful for the community and glad to be home from a couple of summer trips.
πŸ€— Maddie is grateful for how inviting the town is and is grateful to be welcomed wherever she goes.
πŸŽ“ Julia is grateful for all that Mohave College is doing.
πŸŽ’ Colleen is grateful for the kids going back to school, the normal routine of school (aren't we all!) πŸ˜„

Taylor also did a good job fining members for our socials. We had a number of members who shared travel bucks and happy bucks! πŸ’°

πŸ“’ Club Updates

We reviewed several upcoming events and important dates:

πŸ”₯ Fireside Chat: Thursday, July 30 at 12:00 PM at Red Robin
πŸ“‹ Board Meeting: July 22 at AZ Republic
πŸŽ—οΈ Community Service Project: August 3 in the Bridgeview Room

As part of our August 3 service project, we'll be assembling 24 gift baskets for local veterans. Please bring items to contribute so we can make each basket special and show our appreciation for those who have served. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

πŸŽ™οΈ Guest Speaker

Jesse Crawley shared an update on the coalition being formed to combat unlicensed contractors in our community. The initiative brings together members of the construction industry to promote consumer protection and professional standards. The coalition will be working collaboratively with the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce and CBIA to strengthen these efforts. 🀝

πŸŽ‰ Rotary Fun

Taylor wrapped up the meeting as Sergeant-at-Arms, and congratulations to Andy Ganas, whose name was drawn today. While Andy took home the drawing prize, the Ace of Spades remained hidden, so the jackpot continues to grow! πŸ’°

Thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming meetings and service projects as we continue making a positive impact in our community. πŸ’›

✨ Rotary Meeting Recap: July 13th, 2026 πŸ“‹

President Cameron kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome and introduction to our guests! We had family members joining us, plus Tom and Gloria, Andy's office manager (who's looking to join Rotary πŸ‘€), and our wonderful Interact students. πŸŽ‰

πŸ™ Taylor led us in a beautiful Gratitude Moment.

πŸ“… Mark your calendars:
πŸ”₯ Fireside Chat – July 30th at Red Robin. A great way to learn more about Rotary and how to get involved!
πŸ“‹ Board Meeting – Wednesday, July 22nd at Rebel

πŸ‘ Past President Becky presented our contribution to the Trash Bag Program with the Marine Association, and handed out Board member gifts and thank yous to those who couldn't make it to dinner. She also gave us an update on our Veteran Baskets project. Huge thanks to Sterilite for donating 24 laundry baskets to fill for our returning Veterans! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

πŸ’œ Today's program featured Mary VanRoy and Kimberly Zanon from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), an organization that supports foster care children. Empower Her House is a new program that is looking for volunteers.

Not all the kids get a CASA representative. It is a very confidential program and requires a lot of training, lots of notes and reports with the judge, all in the best interest of the child.

Mary has been a CASA volunteer for 28 years. She has seen so much success through the program. Mary loves teaching the kids to ride horses, hike, and enjoy the outdoors. 🐴🌲

Kimberly updated us on Housing 928, which is breaking ground, and it is for teen girls.🏑

πŸ˜„ And of course, Sergeant at Arms Taylor did his best to raise funds by fining all of us for silly little things!

Great meeting, great people, great cause. πŸ’›

What a way to wrap up an era! πŸŽ‰

Today marked Becky's last meeting as president, closing out her 2nd term with a full house cheering her on! πŸ‘

πŸŽ™οΈ We kicked things off with a great classification talk from Collin Mitzenmacher, learning all about Waters Edge Wineries.

πŸ† Then it was award time! We were proud to hand out some well-deserved Chamber recognitions to members who couldn't make it to the annual Chamber Awards Dinner:

πŸŽ“ Cal Sheehy β€” CFEL Distinguished Alumni Award
🎈 Lake Havasu Balloon Festival β€” Chamber Champion Award (Nonprofit)

Congratulations to both! πŸ™Œ

We closed things out with heartfelt thank yous to Becky and Cameron for throwing an amazing installation party, plus a round of Happy and Sad Bucks with Taylor. πŸ’›

Here's to new beginnings and another great year of Rotary! 🀝

We had such a great time last week celebrating our Installation Dinner! πŸŒοΈβ€β™€οΈβ›³ On June 26th, we gathered at The Back Nine for a fun evening of golf challenges and Rotary tradition.

President Becky officially passed the gavel to Cameron, marking the start of the 2026-2027 Rotary year! 🀝

πŸ† Congratulations again to Cal, named Rotarian of the Year! Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Becky also took a moment to thank her Board for an incredible year of service before Cameron introduced his new Board to lead us forward. πŸ‘

A huge thank you to President Becky for an outstanding job guiding our Club through 2025-2026! πŸ’›

And cheers πŸ₯‚ to Cameron and his new Board! We cannot wait to see what this Rotary year brings.
