👮🏾‍♂️Our First W.A.L.K. 2 T.A.L.K. Was a Great Success!

We started by meeting with residents at the Lake Helen Villa’s clubhouse before walking through the community and connecting with even more residents along the way. Several concerns and issues were brought to our attention, and some were quickly resolved.

As you may have noticed, I wore civilian clothing to help create a relaxed environment and strengthen the personal connection between residents and their police department. W.A.L.K. 2 T.A.L.K. is about building trust, listening to our community, and working together to make Lake Helen even better.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our next monthly W.A.L.K. 2 T.A.L.K.!

The Lake Helen Police Department is proud to support the City of Lake Helen and the Lake Helen League for Better Living as we celebrate and prepare our local students for a successful school year!

Join us for food trucks, treats, raffles, face painting, a back-to-school photo opportunity, and more!

School-supply donations are also needed. Requested items include backpacks, wired headphones, pencils, notebooks, folders, crayons, markers, tissues, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and other classroom essentials.

Every donation can make a difference in a child’s future. Let’s come together to help Lake Helen’s students dream, learn, and succeed!

🚔 Operation Southern Slow Down | July 13–18 🚔

The Lake Helen Police Department is participating in Operation Southern Slow Down, a regional traffic safety campaign focused on reducing speed-related crashes and saving lives.

From July 13–18, you will see an increased police presence throughout the city as our officers proactively enforce speed limits and other traffic laws. This annual initiative, in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and law enforcement agencies across the Southeast, is designed to reduce speed-related crashes and fatalities.

🚗 Slow down. Stay alert. Save lives.

Remember:
✅ Obey posted speed limits.
✅ Eliminate distractions.
✅ Buckle up—every trip, every time.
✅ Help keep our roads safe for everyone.

Our goal isn't to write citations—it's to prevent crashes and ensure everyone gets home safely.

At last night’s City Commission meeting, we had the privilege of recognizing two outstanding members of the Lake Helen Police Department.

🏅 Officer Tyler Lacen was presented with a Commendation Award for his exceptional service to one of our senior residents. On the night of May 13, just after midnight, Officer Lacen responded to a call involving a power outage that left a resident without electricity and unable to operate essential medical equipment.

Officer Lacen personally contacted the power company, remained with the resident throughout the incident, and stayed until power was restored—ensuring the resident’s safety and well-being.

Thank you, Officer Lacen, for going above and beyond the call of duty and for representing the Lake Helen Police Department and the citizens of Lake Helen with P.R.I.D.E.

👮‍♂️ We also proudly welcomed Officer Jackson, who was officially sworn in as a Lake Helen Police Officer. As a resident of Lake Helen, Officer Jackson already has a strong connection to our community, and we are excited to have him join our team. He will now begin a 16-week field training program before being released to serve as a solo patrol officer.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Lacen on his well-deserved recognition and welcoming Officer Jackson to the Lake Helen Police Department family.

The Lake Helen Police Department is proud to introduce our newly redesigned patrol cars. While the appearance has been updated with a modern and professional design, one thing hasn’t changed—our commitment to serving and protecting the citizens of Lake Helen.
