Thanks to everyone that came out for Hooked on Fishing! We had some big fish, including the catch of the day - a 16.5" catfish. And as is the case every year, someone snagged a turtle, too!

We hope all those that threw a line in the water had a great time!

Thanks to the Morris County Park Commission for trimming back some areas to allow for easier access to the water and for making the overall grounds look sharp.

This morning, the Jefferson Township High School conducted their biannual Mock Accident, a presentation just prior to prom intended to leave a profound impression on juniors and seniors and guide them into making positive decisions.

The presentation would not have been possible without the collective effort of Jefferson Fire Company 1, Jefferson Fire Company 2, Milton First Aid Squad, Jefferson Rescue Squad, Atlantic Air Ambulance Three, Jefferson Township OEM, Jefferson Police Department, Jefferson Township Administration, Sars Auto, members of the student body, administration, faculty, and staff, as well as other individuals.

We hope the message that is flashing on the signboard next to the roofless Subaru makes an impact - Make Memories, Not Memorials.

Please READ the following information closely and carefully:

The Jefferson Township Police Department is working diligently to provide the safest and most convenient parking possible for Jefferson Fest, based on the logistics of available parking in the area.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th, 2026 at the Jefferson Township High School fields, 1010 Weldon Road, Milton/Oak Ridge.

Parking will be available at the following locations and large signs will be posted at all entrances indicating where that particular parking lot or area will exit after the fireworks so there are no surprises to motorists who will have to follow the direction of the police officers at each location:

- Morris County’s Snow Bowl parking area will exit Weldon Road to the LEFT ONLY towards Lake Hopatcong as directed by the Morris County Sheriff's Office and will be the first lot let out.

- Jefferson Township Intermediate School parking lot will exit Weldon Road to the LEFT ONLY towards Lake Hopatcong and will be let out second, after the Snow Bowl lot is empty.

- After pedestrian traffic is clear, Jefferson Township High School Parking Lot B will exit Weldon Road to the RIGHT towards Milton/Oak Ridge. This lot is for vendors and Handicap ONLY.

- Jefferson Township High School Parking Lot A will exit Weldon Road to the RIGHT towards Milton/Oak Ridge and will be let out after Lot B is clear.

- The Jefferson Township Municipal Building/Library parking lot will exit Weldon Road to the LEFT towards Milton/Oak Ridge when Weldon Road is clear of pedestrians.

- Those parked at the Jefferson Township Department of Public Works area will exit up Sparta Mountain Road and will not be permitted to turn towards Weldon Road.

• Along Weldon Road – obey all NO PARKING signs along the road as posted by the Police Department. Where parking is allowed, vehicles will be directed by police officers on foot and on bicycle patrol to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

**As with any large event anywhere, safety will be of the upmost importance, and it takes a while to exit parking lots in a safe and organized manner, so please be prepared and patient.**

Baggage and/or cooler checks will be conducted, and entry will be denied if a person does not allow a police officer to check a bag or cooler.

Prohibited items include but are not limited to alcohol, weapons, fireworks, smoking to***co and other similar products, and controlled dangerous substances. No animals of any kind are allowed with the exception of ADA compliant service animals.
