This morning, Tuesday, August 11th, at 3:43 am, Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department was notified of an unknown outdoor fire in the 300 block of Wisteria Street. This call was upgraded to a patio fire and then a structure fire. All residents were evacuated at the direction of LJ dispatch.

Lake Jackson VFD immediately called for mutual aid from Richwood and Clute. As the call was upgraded, further mutual aid was requested from Angleton, Freeport, Brazoria, and Jones Creek. The fire was extinguished with zero civilian injuries. One of the 24 fire and command personnel was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Additional organizations providing critical support and manpower include LJPD LJ Dispatchers, LJ FMO, LJEMS, Clute EMS, Angleton EMS, and Centerpoint Energy.

This structure fire is the second major call of the night after LJVFD provided mutual aid to Freeport Fire Department for a garage fire at 10:40 pm.

Today, Tuesday, August 4th, LJVFD was called to a fully involved structure fire in the 100 block of Palm Ln in Lake Jackson. Upon arrival, the homeowner was outside in the back yard and stated no other people were inside. Flames were through the roof and heavy smoke was showing from all eves. The neighbor’s house on the right (delta) side was at risk due to exposure to flames and radiant heat. Fire fighters extinguished the fire in the original house. The neighbor’s house had moderate exterior fire damage and some smoke and water damage on the inside from fire fighting activities. No civilian casualties were reported. One fire fighter was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released same day.

LJVFD would like to thank mutual aid departments for their help in fighting the fire. Units on scene included Richwood, Clute, Angleton, Freeport, Brazoria, and Jones Creek for a total of 41 fire fighters. Other agencies that provided critical support include Lake Jackson PD, Lake Jackson EMS, Lake Jackson Fire Marshals Office, and Angleton EMS.
