Early this morning, 3/1/2026, at approximately 00:40 hours, Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department was called to the 500 block of 288 South bound for a single vehicle accident with the car fully involved. LJVFD responded with two command units, Engine 14, Brush 1, Tanker 1, and Safety Officer. FD arrived and found law enforcement and EMS tending to the patient about 100 yards away from the fire and the vehicle fire was about 100 feet off of a highway overpass. Mutual aid was requested from Angleton to allow ample water supply on the highway. Fire crews extinguished the fire. FD also placed absorbent pads across the waterway to contain any runoff of gasoline and fire fighting foam. TxDOT and Lake Jackson Emergency Management were called to evaluate and mitigate any environmental impact.

Thank you to all first responders on scene: Lake Jackson Police Department, Lake Jackson EMS, Lake Jackson Fire Marshals Office, Lake Jackson Emergency Management Office, Texas State DPS, Angleton VFD, and Angleton EMS.

Thank you to our community partners! This building is slated to be demolished to the slab in the next few days. The LJVFD was allowed to use the building this morning for real world forcible entry training. While we have classroom training and demonstration props, this allowed practice on a real commecial building with unique challenges that may be encountered when responding to alarms and possible emergencies. The ability to work through these scenarios in a controlled environment is a great opportunity to teach, learn, and experience various scenarios.
