FOUND AFTER 20 MONTHS IN THE MUD!
This brick, originally installed along the parking lot of the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge, was found today in Chimney Rock Village NC. Workers putting in a sewer monitoring station near the Chimney Rock Inn found the brick in the mud. The brick was donated by Michelle Jesberg of Santa Cruz, CA in 2023. We don't know how the brick got there, but we are delighted to have it back.

The brick will be reinstalled on our new garden pathways.

Rainbow Bridge path bricks are being installed! As we begin to build the new Rainbow Bridge, the garden paths are being lined with commemorative bricks ordered especially for the Rainbow Bridge path. Most of these bricks honor donors very special pets. These bricks are as special to us as they are to you!

The next step will be the installation of a water feature that resembles a brook. The Rainbow Bridge will be constructed over the water feature.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT! Can you find our green salamanders hiding in our west end gardens?

Lake Lure Flowering Bridge "Artreach" Chair, Amy Wald, has created six salamander art pieces, which are hidden around the gardens. The salamanders are part of the Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge's season-long event "Green Salamander Art Trail." The event celebrates the rare Hickory Nut Gorge Green Salamander, found only only in our local area.

While visiting our area, keep an eye out for the custom designed art pieces on display at 33 local businesses. If you spot a salamander, we would love to see a photo of your discovery!

Look how far we have come!
Work began on the All Twisted Up garden in August 2025.
The caretaker of this garden is Lisa Willis, who is pictured here as work began in September, and how it looks today. The garden features plants with quirky twisted branches showcasing how the Hickory Nut Gorge community felt after the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

Featured in the center of the garden is a "Harry Lauder’s Walking Stick" tree, which has wildly twisted, spiral branches and foliage. The volunteers call the shrub "Harry" and we can't wait to see how it grows.

Commemorative bricks are being installed. This is a really big job! About 600 bricks are being installed and logged in our database. This includes bricks that survived the storm, as well as new bricks ordered in the last 20 months. Visitors are already stopping by the browse the bricks and read to the lovely inscriptions.

Brick locations can be found on our website at https://lakelurefloweringbridge.org/say-it-with-a-brick/ -locator

We are still listing the locations, so, if your brick's location has not be logged, keep checking. Private message us if you have any questions.
