The 2026-27 school year is upon us! Though it will be a few weeks before we begin producing our live newscast LO-AM, our crew will be at Dragon Stadium this Thursday to live-stream the home opener of the Varsity Football season. We're once again teaming up with OrionONTV to produce live broadcasts of all home Varsity Football games. Tune in this Thursday and throughout the season on the NFHS Network App, or through our website at www.dragonbroadcasting.org. (A subscription is required, but nearly half of that money comes directly back to our LOHS broadcast program!)

Grab new LO gear as you get ready for the school year and the fall sports season! We've got golf-sized LO Umbrellas ("golf-size" just means they're big...you don't have to be a golfer to use them!). Plus LO Garden Flags to show your Dragon pride in your neighborhood. And LO 20oz & 30oz tumblers/mugs.
We'll have them all available at the "Under the Lights" event at Dragon Stadium this Saturday night, plus at all the LOHS Student Registration Days this coming week. You can also buy online at www.dragonbroadcasting.org/fundraising
(This is a fundraiser for the LOHS Dragon Broadcasting program.)

To wrap up our celebration of the 2025-26 school year in the LOHS Dragon Broadcast program, we have the full list of all the accolades achieved by our individual students and the program as a whole. We don't measure success by the number of awards received; our top goal is always to produce great stories and content for our audience. But we know if we achieve our primary goal, then many times the "good stuff" like scholarships and awards will follow.
You can see the full list of winners here: https://www.dragonbroadcasting.org/awards.html

We are very thankful for the outstanding students we get to work with and such a supportive community. Stay tuned to our social media throughout the summer as we start preparing for the 36th year of our live newscast and the 57th overall of our Dragon Broadcasting!

Throughout the past couple weeks, we've highlighted a variety of scholarships and first-place awards achieved by our Dragon Broadcasting students in the 2025-26 school year. Tomorrow we'll share the list of ALL the accolades achieved by our students.

Aside from individual categories, the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (aka "MIPA") offers a comprehensive evaluation/critique of all publication forms. And a program that meets or exceeds their standards is awarded a "Spartan", which makes it sort of our equivalent of a state championship.

We're proud to share that LOHS Dragon Broadcasting achieved a Spartan Award!!! There are several strong broadcast programs around the state, and we're honored to be among them.

The Michigan Student Film Festival is the nation's longest-running student film festival, and they just celebrated their 58th anniversary a few weeks ago. David Pavelich's story about the LOHS Forensic Science class was the "Best of Show" overall winner in the News category!

We continue to recognize some of the LOHS Dragon Broadcasting students who received state or national honors. This week we've spotlighted 1st Place winners in various MIPA Broadcast categories, and we've got one more to share.
LOHS Senior Dillan Lindberg took 1st place in the "Live Sports Announcer" category! If you've tuned in to our live sports broadcasts during the past 3 school years, you probably heard Dillan. And if he wasn't a voice on-the-air, he was probably a crew member behind-the-scenes. Last year he took 3rd in the same category. Throughout his Senior year he focused on improving, and now he gets to add this achievement to his resume'!
