Thank You Lake Orion Community Schools for allowing our crews to walk-thru our schools. This simple act allows our firefighters to become more familiar with the buildings and identify critical emergency components. We are grateful for the knowledge and passion Inspector Roths shows with his making sure buildings in the community are safe

Deputy Sadie is making her case for a spot on Team Oakland County Sheriff's Office in tonight's Rib Eating Showdown!

Join us at Texas Roadhouse TONIGHT (7/29) as our local firefighters and deputies faceoff in a rib-eating rivalry for a wonderful cause.

The official showdown is slated for 4:30 pm.

Mention the event or show the flyer (shared in the comments), and 10% of your order will be donated to the annual Shop With a Hero program, an incredible initiative that that pairs children in our community with first responders to buy gifts, clothes, or essential items.

Come cheer on your hometown heroes, ask questions about the millages, enjoy some great food, and help make a difference in a local child's life.

We'll see you tonight!

Late this afternoon, the Orion Township Fire Department and Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded to a residential structure fire on Meadowbrook Court.

Upon arrival, first responders encountered a working fire and discovered two children stranded on the second story of the home. OCSO Deputy Musse (pictured here) quickly gained access to the children and assisted in their rescue, while Orion Township firefighters immediately began fire suppression operations. The family’s dog was also successfully rescued.

The two children were evaluated by EMS for smoke inhalation and transported to a local hospital as a precaution. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported to the children, residents, firefighters, or law enforcement personnel.

We are grateful for the coordinated efforts of the Orion Township Fire Department and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, whose rapid response helped ensure a successful outcome for the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Seven years ago, our fire rescue department did not have the Advanced Life Support (ALS) technology that helped save Penny this past December.

Funding for these life-saving services was made possible through the Fire and EMS Operating Millage approved by voters in the 2020 Primary Election.

That millage has now expired and is up for renewal this August, with a proposed increase from 3.0 to 3.85 mills to help support the growing demand for fire rescue and EMS services, technology, equipment, and personnel. Learn more at OrionTownship.org/FireMillage.

In this short video, originally recorded for the April State of the Township Address, Heroes Live Here, Supervisor Chris Barnett and OTFD Chief Ryan Allen along with Penny and her husband, Dan, recall the events of that November night.
