On Tuesday, October 20th at 5:30pm the Library will host author Crystal Chanel!

Chanel is a storyteller, emcee, poet, and marketing strategist whose work intersects purpose and cultural power. Her debut poetry collection, "Daughter of the Diaspora," blends personal reflection with historical insight to explore identity, resilience, and the lived experience of Black womanhood in America.

On Tuesday, October 20th at 2:00pm librarian April Younglove will host a session to introduce core AI concepts and terms (such as AI summarizers, AI chatbots, and AI prompting) in simple, approachable language! This program is held at the Adult Community Center. Please call 503-635-3758 to register.

Clear safety guidelines, including for maintaining privacy, will be highlighted throughout, and there will be opportunities for hands-on practice!

For this session, participants are asked to bring smartphones, laptops or tablets with internet access.

Join us at the Adult Community Center on Sunday, October 18th at 5:30pm for an exclusive showcase featuring standout short films from the Lake Oswego Film Festival!

This single-night event features 7 winning short films selected by an international panel of six industry judges. Following the showcase, audience members are invited to participate in an intimate Q&A session with several filmmakers to learn directly about their creative process, techniques, and inspiration.

Stop by the Library every first and third Saturday for genealogy assistance provided by members of the Lake Oswego Genealogy Interest Group! You can come through any time between 10am and 12pm and meet with folks in the library’s conference room on the second floor.

Receive one-on-one assistance on any genealogy topic and access the library editions of Ancestry.com and FamilySearch. No experience is required, genealogy worksheets and information will be available on-site.

Attendees will learn 8 chords, strumming patterns, classic and popular songs, as well as tablature, fingerpicking, tuning, and resources for continued musical education. Through the reading and discussion of acclaimed works of fact and fiction, the Building Bridges Book Group seeks a greater appreciation of the rich diversity of life, to build understanding, empathy, and connection in our world.

On Thursday October 15th at 4pm we will talk about "The Bandit Queens" by Parini Shroff at the Adult Community Center and on Zoom.

This “provocative, razor-sharp debut” follows Geeta, a woman sought out for help with husband disposal.
