Due to electrical work, the Main Parking Lot will be without power from about 8a to 5p on August 6, 2026. Because of the outage, the charging stations and parking meters there will not be working. ⚠️

🚔 Policing in the Adirondacks... You Never Know What's Next. 🦅

Proof that policing in the Adirondacks can be different.

Today Officer Sweeney found himself rescuing a juvenile red-tailed hawk that had become lodged in the grille of a vehicle after being struck on the highway.

Fortunately, after carefully freeing the hawk, it took a few moments to regroup, spread its wings, and flew off on its own.

We're hoping our feathered passenger makes a full and speedy recovery—and maybe chooses a little more altitude next time.

Just another day in police work... because "bird extraction specialist" wasn't in the job description. Kudos to Officer Sweeney (now accepting the nickname "Hawk"). 🦅

Today is the Lake Placid IRONMAN triathlon. Go to this website for road closures and detours. Traffic will be heavy in and around the Village of Lake Placid so please plan accordingly and be careful of increased pedestrian traffic.

On Friday July 17th from 1 p.m. until about 3:30 p.m., Mirror Lake Drive will be closed from the intersection of Parkside Drive to the intersection of Northwood Road for the IRONMAN kids race.
