The Lake Placid Police Department recently purchased a Thermo Fisher Scientific TruNarc analyzer which was funded in part thanks to the Town of North Elba and LEAF grant funding. The TruNarc can identify more than 1,200 substances such as fentanyl and methamphetamine in seconds while accurately differentiating other high-risk materials. Officers recently received training and became certified to use the device as seen in the pictures. Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism
