A big part of learning leading, and succeeding is thinking about your future. We wanted to let you know about an amazing opportunity coming up soon.

Mark your calendars for the Highlands County College & Trade Fair on Tuesday, August 18th, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sebring High School Smith Center.

This event is FREE and open to all middle and high school students! Meet representatives from more than 30 colleges, universities, and trade schools, ask questions, explore your options, and discover exciting opportunities for life after graduation.

Whether you already have a plan or you're just starting to explore what's out there, this event is for you. Bring your family, bring your questions, and we'll see you on August 18th!

Today, the staff at Lake Placid Middle School spent the day attending workshops, analyzing student data, and preparing their classrooms to welcome students and families at Open House. A special thank you to all of the folks who came to present on campus today. We even got a visit from the superintendent, Dr. Brenda Longshore. We can’t wait to partner with our community for another great year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

We are so excited to be back on campus preparing to welcome our students for an amazing new school year!

A heartfelt thank you to South Oak First Baptist Church of Lake Placid for surprising our staff with these thoughtful and fun goodie bags. Your kindness and encouragement mean so much as we kick off the year.

LPM had an incredible turn out for our 6th grade only orientation! Standing room only with over 100 students and their families!!! Our new 6th graders had a chance to walk the campus and get oriented before getting their schedules and meeting their teachers later this week.

Thanks to the staff who stayed to help and thanks to our families for showing up and participating! We are looking forward to seeing you all again on Thursday for our school-wide open house. 🐉

Please make plans to attend LPM's 6th Grade Only Open House on Monday August 3, 2026 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM.
6th graders and thier families will get valuable information about the LPM campus and instructional programs, as well as a chance to tour the campus without all the other grade levels on campus.
