Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Dept, Inc. Providing fire protection for the Village of Lake Placid since 1905 The Lake Placid Vol. Fire Dept.

is comprised of a combination staff, which includes paid drivers/dispatchers and volunteer firefighting personnel. At any given time there are around 40 active volunteers and 6 paid members. The LPFD is manned 24/7/365 and responds to an average of 300 fire related calls each year.

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on 7/2/26 at 22:25. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire preventing it from spreading to surrounding buildings. The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded mutual aid to the scene, with Keene Volunteer Fire Department providing standby at the station. 🚒

This past weekend, two of our firefighters were honored with the Northern New York Firefighter of the Year Award for their heroic actions on May 1, 2025. Johnny Fagan and Ciana Cerruti's quick and courageous actions saved the life of the occupant of an apartment fire and contained the fire to just one room, preventing any further loss or destruction. To say we are proud would be an understatement. Congratulations Johnny and Ciana, and thank you for your service to our department and this community 🚒
