Hamilton County, New York - On July 15, 2026, at 9:00 am the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office arrested Shannon M. Easton, 47 of Newport, New York for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd. The defendant was arrested following an investigation conducted by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Hamilton County Probation Department whereas the defendant was driving a tow truck for Howard's Towing of Old Forge while possessing a revoked drivers license for felony DWI. The defendant was subsequently released on an uniform traffic ticket returnable at a later date in the Town of Long Lake Court.

Hamilton County, New York - On July 13, 2026, at 4:43 pm the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office arrested Steven M. Schecheter, 38 of Indian Lake, New York for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, No License Plates and Unlicensed Motor Vehicle in Raquette Lake, NY. The defendant was subsequently released on Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable at a later date in the Town of Long Lake.

Hamilton County, New York - On July 4, 2026, at 9:55 pm the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to a personal injury ATV accident on Karuth Road in the Town of Wells. The operator, Edward M. Vanier, 30, of Clifton Park, New York was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Blood Alcohol content over .08, and Speed Not reasonable and prudent. Vanier was released on Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable 08/18/2026 in the Town of Wells.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a plane crash at the Piseco Airport on July 12, 2026, at 7:09 pm. Pilot Kenneth J. Andreu, 74, of Valhalla N.Y. was enroute from Poughkeepsie Airport to Piseco Airport when he crashed upon landing at Piseco. The pilot was the sole occupant of a single engine Cessna. The crash occurred approximately 150 yards “off field” of the airport. The pilot was declared deceased at the scene. Currently the National Traffic Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are on scene and have taken over the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office wishes to express our condolences to the Andreu family, and our thoughts and prayers go out to them. The Sheriff’s Office also would like to extend our sincere thanks to the following agencies that assisted us at the scene; New York State Forest Rangers, Piseco Volunteer Fire Department, Town of Piseco Officials, Lake Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, Speculator Volunteer Fire Department, and Speculator Volunteer Ambulance.

Hamilton County, New York - On June 30, 2026, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office arrested the following defenants;
Joseph T. Boscarino, 27 of Tempe, Arizona for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, Speeding, Switch Plates, Forged/Switched Registration, No Insurance and Switch/Forged Inspection. Boscarino was released as per bail reform rules and issued uniform traffic tickets returnable at a later date in the Town of Lake Pleasant Court. George H. Bonin, 27 of Spencerport, NY was a passenger in Boscarino's vehicle, was arrested on an active Monroe County Court bench warrant for Felony DWI, multiple Aggravated Unlicensed Operation charges, along with multiple unresolved Vehicle and Traffic charges. Bonin was transported to the Syracuse area to relay with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Monroe County Sheriff's Office took custody of Bonin and was transported to Rochester, NY.

Hamilton County, New York - On June 6, 2026, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jamie A. Galan, 41 of Jamaica/Queens, NY for Criminal Contempt 2nd. The defendant was arrested following a domestic dispute at a local Speculator business and was found to be with a protected party of against same. The defendant was released on an appearance ticket returnable at a later date in the Town of Lake Pleasant Court.

Hamilton County, New York - On June 29, 2026, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Ludin, 33 years of age of Speculator, NY on a Violation of Probation.
The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Indian Lake. The defendant was remanded to the Hamilton County Jail on no bail while he awaits further appearances in the Town of Indian Lake Court.
