Faculty, staff, and administrators kicked off the 2026-27 school year today with a fun and productive Superintendent's Conference Day. Staff received a warm welcome from Superintendent Dr. Kenneth R. Bossert, Board Vice President Steve Chen, Association Presidents Dr. Alison Brenan and Jim Daszenski, and Assistant Superintendents Dr. Dan Holtzman and Michelle Bell. Board of Education Trustees Joanne Chan, Marisa Brandeis Kermanian, and Donna Peirez were also in attendance to share their best wishes for a great year ahead.

The keynote speaker for this year’s program was Dr. Joe Sanfelippo, a nationally recognized and award-winning former superintendent from Wisconsin who spoke about the power of relationships and creating positive experiences for students and staff. His high-energy keynote challenged staff to think about the impact they have each day and the difference they can make in the lives of their students and colleagues.

The Superintendent's Conference Day program also included faculty meetings at each building and opportunities for staff to prepare for opening day.

North Middle hosted "Bagels and Locks" this morning to welcome incoming sixth graders. New students received their schedules, located their classrooms, and practiced using their lockers for the first time. With the first day of school one week away, Board of Education trustees and central administrators toured facilities today to see construction projects completed this summer and the work still underway as our buildings prepare to welcome students and staff.

Highlights included a new multipurpose room at North Middle School, renovated bathrooms at Village School, and continued progress on the new North Athletic Field.

The summer months are an important time for repairs, maintenance, and renovations across our facilities. Improvements were made at several buildings this summer, from roof repairs and boiler replacements to installing new PA systems and fire sprinklers. These voter-approved capital projects enhance the safety and functionality of our schools while protecting our community’s investment in district infrastructure.

Bravo to the cast and crew of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr.! 🐟

Our talented students in the Musical Theater Summer Enrichment program brought this entire musical to life in less than 6 weeks! In addition to learning their lines, songs and choreography, participants in grades 5-8 had a blast making new friends from across the district. Their hard work culminated this week with performances for our elementary enrichment campers as well as a free show for the community. Bravo!
