Confusion About the New LRS Garbage Bill

There has been considerable confusion regarding the recent Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) garbage bill for residents in unincorporated Lake Villa.
LRS entered into a five-year contract that began in May 2024. Under the contract, the residential rate was set at $26.52 per month and remained frozen for the first two years. Beginning in May 2026, and each year thereafter, the contract allows for a 4% annual increase.
As a result, the monthly residential rate increased from $26.52 to $27.58 in May 2026.
The confusion stems from the way the increase was reflected on the most recent invoice:
The previous bill covering May through July 2026 was mistakenly billed at the old rate of $26.52 per month and did not include the approved rate increase.
The current bill covering August through October 2026 reflects the new rate of $27.58 per month.
In addition, LRS included a catch-up charge for the amount that was not billed on the prior invoice.
The calculation is as follows:
3 months × $27.58=$82.74Unbilled increase from May–July period$3.18Total Current Invoice for 3 months is $85.92

Greetings, Lake Villa Township residents! This is Supervisor Dan Venturi, and while we won't have a concert in the park this week, I'm thrilled to share some exciting news! Join us for the America 250 concert, hosted by the Village of Lindenhurst and the Lake Villa District Library, on July 1, 2026, from 7–8:30 p.m. at the Lake Villa District Library located at 140 N. Munn Road. Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with live music from the talented band Shout Out, who will be performing beloved hits from across the decades. In addition to the fantastic music, we’ll have a variety of delicious food trucks and fun giveaways to enhance the festive atmosphere. So gather your friends and family, grab a lawn chair, and come celebrate this momentous occasion with us!
