Progress continues at St. James V.F.D.! We’re almost finished with the paint job, excited to move on to the new driveway next. A huge thank you to Richard Thomas for doing such a fantastic job on our exterior paint—it’s looking great. 🚒🔥🧯

It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of one of our own.

Founding member and longtime Chief Elton Ray Jacobs, call sign 414, has answered his final call.

Chief Jacobs was a pillar of this department and a true servant to his community. His leadership, dedication, and years of service helped shape the foundation of who we are today. The impact he made on this department, his fellow responders, and the community will never be forgotten.

During this incredibly difficult time, we ask that everyone please keep his family, our department members, and all friends who loved him in your prayers. 🙏

Funeral and service arrangements will be shared once they become available.

Due to low relative humidity, dry fuels and windy conditions, fire danger is elevated across the southern Piedmont into the Sandhills today, Jan. 11.

Outdoor burning is NOT recommended. Dry grasses, dead leaves and other vegetative debris could easily ignite and spread quickly.
