🚨HURRICANE IAN UPDATE: All Palm Beach County District-operated schools and offices will be CLOSED on Wednesday, September 28, as Hurricane Ian continues to gain strength and track closer to Florida’s west coast.

Additionally, all after-school activities, including sports, school meetings, and leases are also canceled on September 28. A decision regarding closures beyond September 28 is under consideration.

📲 For more information and the latest updates, please visit: PalmBeachSchools.org

As for today, September 27, the District is operating on the same schedule shared with you via email yesterday. Schools are open today as normal, and aftercare programs will remain operational through 6 p.m. All extracurricular activities, athletics, evening leases, and evening adult education classes are canceled.

“We have been watching Hurricane Ian closely before making our decision to close schools,” Superintendent Mike Burke said. “While Palm Beach County is not currently included in the National Hurricane Center’s probability cone, hazardous conditions in our area may occur. I will continue to work closely with emergency managers and make timely decisions in the best interest of our students and staff.”

School District leaders will continue to work closely with County, State, and Federal emergency management officials to assess Ian’s impact on the District, and determine when it is safe for schools and offices to reopen.

Thank you for your support of the School District of Palm Beach County. Please stay safe.

🚨HURRICAN IAN UPDATE: The School District, in coordination with federal, state, and local emergency managers, continues to actively monitor Hurricane Ian and its progress toward Florida’s west coast.

📌 School campuses and District offices will remain open on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

All students and staff should report tomorrow as scheduled. District student aftercare programs will remain open tomorrow. However, after-school extracurricular activities, including athletic events and practices have been canceled for tomorrow. All evening Adult Education programs for Tuesday are also canceled.

Although Palm Beach County is not located in the forecaster's probability cone which indicates the projected path of the storm, hazardous conditions can occur outside of the cone. It’s also
important to remember that the projected track is subject to change.

The District’s top priority is to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and the community at large. We will continue to monitor the storm throughout its course and will provide updates as needed through the District’s website, social media, and via direct email and calls to parents and staff.

An update regarding potential schedule changes for Wednesday, September 28, will be provided tomorrow afternoon. For all updates, please visit: bit.ly/PBCSD-IAN

Thank you for your support of the School District of Palm Beach County.
