We’re proud to be a Toys for Tots drop-off location again this year! Please drop off new, unwrapped toys by December 5th to Station 1, and help make a child’s holiday brighter. 🎁❤️

Lake Zurich supports Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots Campaign

Shopping online or making a curb-side pickup? Consider adding a toy to your order to donate to a child in need this holiday season.

Since 1947, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has been making a difference in the lives of American families. The Lake Zurich Police Department is honored to again assist the Marine Corps Reserve in collecting toys for this worthwhile program. Of course, we also have the support of the members of the Lake Zurich Fire Department.

Toys need to be dropped off by December 5th. For any further questions, please contact Officer Jennie Johnson. You can drop off new, unwrapped toys at the following collection points in Lake Zurich:

· Lake Zurich Police Department - 200 Mohawk Trail
· Lake Zurich Fire Department - 321 S. Buesching Road

November is a time for cozy meals and family gatherings — but it’s also a great time to focus on fire safety. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reminds everyone to take simple steps to prevent kitchen fires and keep your home safe this season.

✅ Stay in the kitchen when cooking on the stovetop.
✅ Make sure your smoke alarms are working — test them regularly.
✅ Stay home when cooking so you can keep an eye on your food.
✅ Keep children at least three feet away from the stove.
✅ Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.

A few mindful habits can help ensure a safe and happy November for everyone.

❄️ Winter is on the way! ❄️

As temperatures drop, there’s a chance the rain could turn into snow tomorrow evening. The first signs of winter weather can make roads slick and visibility poor, so please take a few extra precautions before heading out.

A few quick reminders:
🚗 Slow down and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.
🧤 Clear snow and ice from your windows, mirrors, and lights before driving.
🚙 Increase your following distance.
🩹Keep an emergency kit in your car - blankets, flashlight, and extra batteries can make a big difference.

Stay safe, drive carefully, and help keep our community safe as winter weather approaches.

Daylight Saving Time has officially ended. We hope you enjoyed that extra hour of sleep!

As you adjust to the new time, it’s also a great reminder to:

✅ Test your smoke alarms
✅ Test your carbon monoxide detectors
✅ Make sure alarms are clean and not expired
✅ Review your family fire escape plan

Smoke alarms now have 10-year sealed batteries, so no battery swapping needed, but testing them regularly is still important to keep you and your family safe. 🔥🚒
