Chesak Elementary School

Chesak Elementary School Schools in District 158 have been named after people who have had a major influence on the education of our children. Library books may be checked out weekly.

May Chesak was an educator in McHenry County for 51 years, as both teacher and administrator. She fully retired in 1984 and made her home in Woodstock. May passed away on March 22nd, 2007, at the age of 102. Elementary school buildings and programs are similar in design to maximize positive transitions and student movement. Our building opened it's doors in the Fall of 2000 and is the largest elem

entary school in the district, housing 875 kindergarten, first and second grade students. This year there are 12 full day Kindergarten classes, 12 First Grade and 12 Second Grade classes offered. Classes average about 24 students per class at Chesak Elementary School. All student registration is completed at the Student Registration Department, which is in the District Administration Building in Algonquin. Children in all District 158 elementary schools enjoy 30 minutes of daily Physical Education, Music three times a week, and Art twice a week. All of the specials are taught by fully qualified teachers. Student support services include School Nurse, Social Worker, Speech, Reading Specialist, and a full compliment of Special Education services. The school office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All guests must check in at the office during student attendance hours. Children may enter the building at 8:20 am and are dismissed at 3:25 pm. Currently all of our surrounding neighborhoods qualify for district transportation. The Huntley Park District provides on site before and after school child care services. A hot lunch program is offered, for which parents can manage their accounts with online account viewing and payment.

Our Kindergarten classes have been anxiously awaiting their caterpillars to transform into butterflies! This morning, our kindergarten students were excited to release seven painted lady butterflies out into the world after watching them grow and change over the past several weeks. They wished them luck as they began their new journey! 🦋💛

Our dual language classes celebrated Día del Niño with a morning packed with fun! 🤩 Students played games, danced together, and took turns hitting a piñata! 🪅 It was a wonderful way to honor culture, community, and the spirit of childhood!

Día del Niño is a celebration that honors children by focusing on recognizing children’s rights, encouraging education, and making kids feel valued and celebrated! ✨
