Lakefield City Hall and other municipal departments are closed on Labor Day because it is an official municipal holiday. City offices observe the holiday to allow employees paid time off to celebrate the national day honoring workers. Regular operating hours resume Tuesday September 8th at 7:30 am.

REMINDER! JCC Middle School starts tomorrow, September 1, Elementary starts Thursday September 3! Be aware of children getting on/off the bus or walking to school/bus stops!

M.S. 169.444 SAFETY OF SCHOOL CHILDREN; DUTIES OF OTHER DRIVERS.
Subdivision 1.Children getting on or off school bus. When a school bus is stopped on a street or highway, or other location where signs have been erected under section 169.443, subdivision 2, paragraph (b), and is displaying an extended stop-signal arm Next and flashing red lights, the driver of a vehicle approaching the bus shall Previous stop Next the vehicle at least 20 feet away from the bus. The vehicle driver shall not allow the vehicle to move until the school bus stop-signal Previous arm Next is retracted and the red lights are no longer flashing.

Violation of this statute carries a minimum $500.00 fine.
