Your Lake Shasta Caverns adventure begins with a ride across the crystal blue waters of Shasta Lake on a 65 foot catamaran. As you cross the McCloud arm of Shasta Lake, the boat captain will talk about the lake, the geography and some facts about the area. You will soon arrive on the east shore just below the limestone Nort

h Gray Rocks. Continue your tour with a comfortable ride in our custom busses up the hill to the cavern entrance. Along the way you may spot several of the animals that reside on this pristine mountain like the bald eagle, osprey, mountain lion, bobcat, black bear, or black-tailed deer. Manzanita, red bud, oak and pine dot the hillside and you will enjoy stunning vistas of the lake below. At the cavern entrance your expert guide will explain the history of the caverns, its discovery, and how limestone caverns are formed. Upon entering the carefully preserved underground world of the caverns, you will be surrounded by crystal beauty 250 million years in the making! As you turn each corner, a different surprise awaits you in the form of unique and stunning calcite formations!

**LOST PUPPY**

One of our employees located a dog that was wandering on Shasta Caverns Road between Holiday Harbor's RV Park and the Marina.

It is a young male, no collar, very friendly but very scared. He has a couple of nicks and scratches but overall healthy. He is secured and we are looking for his parents.

Please call 530-238-2341 if you have any details

What an honor! We were awarded Business of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce 😍

This last Saturday during the Damboree Community Awards event, we gladly accepted this award which is given to an exemplary business that not only provides excellent service, but is community minded in it's actions outside the normal range of business.

Our mission is summed up by an acronym, SEC.

Stewardship - of the cave and the property

Education - the public of how precious the caves are.

Community - actively supporting and assisting the community where needed to improve the lifestyle of the residents.

Thanks to our cavern crew, we were able to meet and even exceed our mission this last year. Here are just a few items we accomplished this past year:

Stewardsgip - $500,000 new lighting project that cuts electricity use, promotes the health of bats within the cave, inhibits the growth of lampenfloura and provides guests with a more immersive experience.

Education - 4,000+ students, scouts and school programs going through the tour with a focus on learning the importance of caves. Also continuing scientific studies in the cave, primarily climatology and even the genesis of the cave.

Community - Assisting during the Green Fire in which our WWII landing craft, Elsie, assisted in transporting several hundred wildland fire fighters and a number of large pieces of equipment for fire suppression in remote area of the lake.

Once again, we are so very honored to accept this award from a community we greatly cherish!

February 11th was the International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

Here at Lake Shasta Caverns, for many years we've been honored to have women contribute to our knowledge of the caverns in many scientific disciplines - speleology, climatology, hydrology, petrology, geology and more! Their contributions have advanced our knowledge, allowing us to give some of the best tours in the United States.

And for that, we say thank you!!!

Our Core Values at Lake Shasta Caverns are Stewardship, Education and Conservation. Today, we celebrate a Silver Anniversary related to our Education Core Value!

10 Years ago today, we first began corresponding with Associate Professor (Earth and Environmental Sciences), Dr. Jessica Oster. Over the last decade we have partnered with Jessica in collecting water drip samples in and outside the cave, and provided cave deposit samples for lab analysis.

We've been privileged to host Dr. Oster and many of her students on numerous visits to the cave, and the results of her research has helped us immensely in providing some of the best educated tour guides in the nation!

Cheers Jessica, and here's to many more years of fun and learning!
