MLVFD receives its funding entirely from donations. We receive no money from the county, state or federal government. All of our staff are volunteers and receive no pay.

The coming boot drive is one of our 3 annual fund raisers and our last boot drive was cancelled due to weather. Please give what you can so we can continue to serve our community.

Last night MLVFD cleared a tree that fell due to the bad weather and was partially blocking a roadway. We do a lot more than just putting out fires.

Due to the extreme dry and hot conditions creating dangerous conditions Bandera County has reinstated the burn ban.

Yesterday, MLVFD received a new shipment of fire hoses to replace those that were worn or no longer serviceable. A big thank-you to our community for your continued support, which helps us remain ready to serve and protect you.

MLVFD responded to a brush fire earlier this evening. It’s hot and dry out there , be careful if you burn, make sure you have water and tools to put a fire out, and remember all fires need to be out before dark. For more tips see our website Medina lake vfd.org.

MLVFD was out a Scenic Summit and PR 37 again, this afternoon for the third time for an unattended burn at this same location.

If you're going to burn you need to contact the sheriffs department by phone or the link on our website Medina lake vfd.org before you burn.

Lastly have water and a means on site to put the fire out

MLVFD did some scenario training today, practicing arriving at a structure fire and setting up water supply. It was a long hot training, but great experience for those types of calls.

This week MLVFD would like to spotlight the guy who is the real glue of the department Miguel Muniz.
Miguel has been with MLVFD for 17 years and in addition to being a firefighter, Miguel is also the station mechanic and all around handyman. Miguel keeps all the trucks and equipment running and saves the department a ton on money by being able to do all these repairs in house.
Miguel is usually a really busy guy during equipment night when we're testing equipment because whenever someone had a problem, they should his name to come solve it.
Miguel is also on our board of directors, and just one all around great guy.
