ROAR FLORIDA residents and Aktion Club members were up bright and early this weekend spreading smiles and cheering on runners at the annual “Run for Their Lives” 5K hosted by SPCA Florida at Peterson Park in Lakeland. Our members proudly handed out medals to participants as they crossed the finish line — celebrating every step taken to help animals in need. 🐾🏅

There was something pretty special about watching our Aktion Club members encourage runners, celebrate accomplishments, and help make the morning unforgettable for both people and pets. Community is built in moments like these.

A huge thank you to SPCA Florida for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful event. And congratulations to every runner, walker, volunteer, four-legged - even three-legged participants who helped make the day a success. 💙

⚾️ Sometimes “Play It Forward” means more than music. ❤️

A huge thank you to Natalie Oldenkamp and Play It Forward Polk for sharing tickets so our ROAR FLORIDA residents could enjoy a night with the Lakeland Flying Tigers Baseball.

Play It Forward Polk is a local nonprofit that helps provide musical instruments and opportunities for students across Polk County, but this time they “played it forward” by giving our residents the chance to watch others play under the lights at beautiful Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Great baseball, lots of smiles, and another reminder of how special this community truly is. 🐯

A little magic filled ROAR FLORIDA today. ✨

Our residents were treated to an unforgettable afternoon with Bermo’s Gospel Illusionist, and for a little while, the room was filled with wonder, laughter, and moments that made everyone feel like a kid again.

Cards disappeared, surprises appeared out of nowhere, and smiles spread across the room faster than any magic trick could explain. But the most magical part of the day was watching our residents laugh together, participate in the show, and simply enjoy the moment.

Thank you for bringing a little extra wonder to ROAR FLORIDA today. ✨

Lunch Club went to Moe’s Southwest Grill today! 🌮

Good food, great conversations, and time together out in the community — that’s what Lunch Club is all about.

At ROAR FLORIDA, our residents are active, independent adults who enjoy getting out, exploring local restaurants, spending time with friends, and being part of the community they call home.

Today’s stop: Moe’s! 💙

Today was election day for the Aktion Club at ROAR FLORIDA.

Our members participated in voting, leadership discussions, and learning more about what it means to help lead a club focused on service, character, teamwork, and community involvement.

Aktion Club gives adults with unique capabilities the opportunity to build confidence, work together, and take active roles in giving back to the community.

We are proud of every member who participated today and excited for another year of leadership, volunteer opportunities, friendships, and growth.

A special thank you to our sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Lakeland for continuing to support and encourage our members.

Our Aktion Club members spent time volunteering at the local SPCA, and it was time well spent.

They stepped in to help where it was needed—supporting the staff, caring for the animals, and being part of the daily work that keeps things running. Opportunities like this matter. They build confidence, create connection, and show what inclusion looks like in action.

Grateful for partnerships like this that open the door for our residents to give back, learn new skills, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

We’re proud of the relationships we’re building at the state level and the doors they’re opening for our community.

In Tallahassee, meaningful change happens through collaboration, trust, and consistent engagement. We’ve been intentional about showing up, having the right conversations, and working alongside leaders who are committed to making a difference.

Grateful for the opportunity to represent our community and continue building partnerships that move things forward.

We’re asking for your help—but not just for funding.

At ROAR FLORIDA, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are building independent lives through our LEA program—gaining life skills, confidence, and real community connection.

It costs $235 a month to support one resident.

$235 to help someone learn daily life skills, build relationships, and live with dignity.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a direct impact—this is it.
