VISTE - Volunteers in Service to the Elderly VISTE’s mission is to enable elderly persons to remain safely and independently in their own homes.

We’re excited to share a new chapter at VISTE. 💚

After a comprehensive search, Katherine Fitzwater has been selected as VISTE’s next President. Katherine is a dedicated nonprofit leader and community advocate, bringing strong experience in communications, volunteer engagement, and fundraising from her work with United Way of Central Florida.

With deep roots in our community and a passion for serving others, she’s the perfect fit to help lead VISTE forward.

Twice a year, VISTE volunteers deliver approximately 400 care boxes filled with essential household and personal care items to elderly clients in our community. You can sponsor one care box with a gift of just $25.

This Target Tuesday, we’re highlighting VISTE’s Supplemental Grocery program, which helps local seniors access nutritious food each month. 💚

The program, which began in 1995, has been providing monthly grocery support to more than 1,200 households. Groceries are available for pickup during the first full week of each month, and for clients unable to pick up, volunteers help deliver during the third week. As the program continues to grow, VISTE remains focused on providing quality products with strong nutritional value.

Meet Katie Sisson, VISTE’s Grant Manager! 👋
Originally from St. Petersburg, FL, Katie joined us in August 2025 and hit the ground running, seeking out new funding opportunities to support VISTE seniors in need.

She loves that VISTE truly embodies neighbors helping neighbors, a small organization with a big impact. When she’s not writing grants, she’s reading, watercolor painting, swimming, or camping with her family, plus hanging with her husband Taylor, their two boys, a dog, four chickens, and George the tortoise.
