Dear Lanier County residents,

Lanier County Fire Department is aware of the heavy smoke throughout the area. We are actively monitoring conditions and searching for any active flames. At this time, the smoke has spread from one side of the county to the other, and surrounding counties are also being affected.

As always, we appreciate everyone continuing to take fire safety precautions and doing their part to help keep our community safe.

Please remain alert and report any visible flames or emergencies to 911 immediately.

Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We carry their legacy with us every day as we continue to serve and protect our community.

Please take a moment today to remember the fallen, honor their families, and keep all first responders in your thoughts and prayers.

Lanier County residents, please be advised that a burn ban is still in effect.

While we did receive some rain, the ground is soaking it up quickly and conditions can still support fire spread. We ask everyone to continue holding off on any outdoor burning until conditions improve and the ban is lifted.

Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe.

Georgia Power is actively working to restore power to residents on Good Hope Road. Crews are on scene and working hard to get everything back up and running as quickly and safely as possible.

We ask everyone to please be patient during this time and continue to practice fire safety. Avoid using unsafe heating or lighting methods, and be mindful of potential hazards while the power is out.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
