As wildfire conditions improve, the State Forester burn ban has been lifted in all counties.

🔗 Executive Order: https://gatrees.org/resources/executive-order-lifting-burn-ban-and-state-of-emergency-in-17-counties/

This is welcome progress—and a testament to the incredible work of wildland firefighters, first responders, and partner agencies who have worked around the clock over the past several weeks.

⚠️ A few important reminders:
➡️ While the State Forester’s wildfire burn ban has been lifted, some counties may still have local burn restrictions or ordinances in place. Always check with local officials before conducting outdoor burning.
➡️ The Georgia EPD summer burn ban is still in effect for 54 counties, primarily in and around metro Atlanta, through October 1. That seasonal restriction remains in place regardless of current wildfire conditions.
➡️ Even with improved conditions, parts of Georgia remain dry, and wildfire risk has not disappeared. It still only takes one spark to start a wildfire.

We’re grateful for the progress being made—and for every Georgian who helped by taking precautions, following restrictions, and supporting wildfire response efforts.

This NationalPoliceWeek, we take time to pause and proudly recognize the men and women of law enforcement who serve with courage, integrity, and unwavering commitment to their communities.

We take a moment to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and keep their families, loved ones, and colleagues in our thoughts.

We thank all law enforcement officers who serve to make our community safer.

5/11 630am ET - A few strong thunderstorms are expected today, bringing familiar hazards such as gusty winds, dangerous lightning, small hail and brief torrential downpours. Be ready, and head indoors when storms approach.

05/07/2026

11:00am ET - A line of storms continue to slowly drift south as the individual storms along the line move east. Several storms along this line have had a history of producing 50 to 60 mph wind gusts bringing thunderstorm wind damage and power outages. Additionally, a few have briefly had spin-ups. A brief tornado or two can't be ruled out within the stronger storms and a tornado watch still remains in effect for much of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, and southwest Georgia.
